is there a way to have msn alert you when certain ppl are online?
or is there anyway to have msn stop alerting you when certain ppl you don't chat with usually without actually blocking them?

| I havent run into anything like that. MSN isnt really all that feature packed. I might be wrong though. |

I don't think you can do either one, at least not with regular MSN. What I've done though, is I turned off "Display alerts when contacts come online". I found that it was getting really annoying when I was notified every few seconds of someone coming online. I check my MSN window often enough anyway, so if I want to talk to someone, I just scan the list to see if they're there.
If you're interested in that, do this:
- Go to Tools
- Scroll down to Options
- Click on the General tab
- Then find the Alerts section (in the middle)
- Now just uncheck "Display alerts when contacts come online"
- Click OK
