How to get a PvD style beat??

Hey guys i have a question id love if any one could answer it.
this sounds kinda stupid, but when i listen to PvD the Beat is kind of like clapping. I want to know how i can get this effect when i am mixing?

it isnt an effect, it is a clap sample that he uses as on the upbeat or what not.
if you get ahold of Reason 2.0, there are many claps that come with it. his basic drum/clap thing is just a really compressed drum w/ a clap on the off beat |

| i have found that you can get a clapping kinda sound by having the beats a bit off beat |

| Playing the beats a bit off beat is called phasing - its what most new DJ's do when their beat matching is just that little bit off. Some pro's use it as a technique during their sets, Dave Pearce however can't avoid it :D |
