Same situation as me. I wouldnt have started listening to trance if it werent for mp3. Yesterday i bought 2 lvee records (Capetown and Fire and Ice EP) Had it not been for mp3 i might have skipped over them.
I just think trying justifying dowloading a tonne of is wrong. |

Agreed, there are advantages and disadvantages.
Philby, i can say quite honestly that if it weren't for mp3 i wouldn't have bought one single vinyl of L-vee's or anyone else for that matter. I probably wouldn't even know what trance is.
What i don't get is what is this petition going to do?? Stop programs such as Direct Connect?? |
yeah i know dude but im saying your example is :p
i think the petition is just to show our support and convince him to keep going. |

I think Airwave's a bit money hungry....so much for being in it for the music. Fair enough that he wants to make money - dont we all. But to actually consider quitting it all together because of mp3s is just arselike. "I can't afford the latest equipment" blah...sell some of the old stuff, plus the equipment can be stretched to extroadinary lengths.
I download a load of music, i get about 100meg a day and dont delete it after 24 hours. Im a , i download all this and say i'm an artists biggest fan. Reason is, is because i'm not a DJ yet, so i aint buying CD singles or vinyls. Show me a place to buy livesets!! I still buy a lot of CDs. I'm up to about 50 albums now, and ever rising. I'm gonna go buy the new GU next Monday, hurrah. I'm also gonna ask about Dajae and Full Intention and whether or not they've released an album or compilation or ANYTHING! Jah sent me Dajae and Full Intention - What do you Want (dub) earlier. This is one phat ass tune. Mp3's have their pros and cons for sure, and honestly...i dont consider it stealing as long as the music stays on the hard-drive. As soon as you burn the album to CD, your a uber-. I've done this a few times myself, only because i needed to hear the album on my stereo, I'm gonna go buy the albums some day soon - most likely when i see em in the store.
I read in an interview with a high profile producer (sorry, forgot which one) and he talked about how labels are very cautious over what to release nowadays. You know what, GOOD!!! We the consumer deserve quality music, especially if we're paying $30 for a CD - sometimes as high as $55 for imported . Another thing, L-Vee, I'll buy your music if you stopped making tracks the same as every other one of ur tunes!! Rest assured, he's made some sweet tracks over the years, but they're all the same! What he said
L-Vee have a whinge, I will probably make a point of downloading all your tracks and not buying a single one now. I'll just play them on CD-R.
The only reason I buy vinyls is cause I have d/l the track and I like it so I buy it, cause i do most of my 12" shopping online as stores are for prog and trance these days (cheese cheese cheese). And if it wants for mp3s i wouldnt know about most of the artists i have bought vinyls and cds from. Right now im searching for Sander's 4 Seasons EP 1,2 and waiting for 3! And I'm dying for Nick's new GU ( I hope i can get it in Sydney on Sunday as I got Lavelles a few days early there) and I only know about them cause of mp3s.
L-Vee, get a job! |
