Good God WHAT an amazing night! :) First of all, a big cheerio to the 5AM event management crew that put on a superb event. Now, to my review:

Made my way up the stairs at around 11:30 at Room to some relaxed trance tunes being spun our way by JulesPLees (nice to meet you, dude :)) and Adam Holden. Set the scene nicely -- not too much, not too hard, but definitely trance.

Met up with Philby, InAcoma and stipsy, and was soon after met by Hybrid Junkie and friend to sort out guest list stuff. Chatted with TA and non-TA friends while Albert Mangler and Zac Curran fed us with a mixture of slightly harder tracks and some fluffy vocal trancers, such as Dark Monks - Insane (Steve Murano Remix), Above & Beyond - Far From In Love, Kirsty Hawkshaw - Fine Day (Mike Koglin Remix) & Oceanlab - Sky Falls Down (Original Mix). (Warning, trainspotting before 2am was minimal; apologies for the weak effort up to now! :p)

Charlie Zee vs Steve Strangis is gonna bring the house down. Peaktime madness...

And I wasn't wrong. :D Apparently Strangis was a little nervous before the set, but it sure as hell didn't show. Charlie and (OMFG especially) Steve tore Room a new orifice with a storming set of new and old banging, soaring, uplifting tracks. Hands were in the air and throats were yelled hoarse as the trance-loving crowd just lapped up a mind-blowing battle set from two of Melbourne's finest.

The two showed a slight difference in style early on, but they worked smoothly together to create a simply amazing atmosphere. Tracks from this astounding set included (and not in order ;)):

* Riva - Time is the Healer (AvB Dub) followed by Alibi - Eternity (Innercity Mix) [/me went f**king nuts -- amazing opening]
* Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar (Marco V Remix)
* Matt Darey - Moody
* Delerium - Silence (Tiesto's ISOS Mix) followed by Plastic Boy - Silver Bath [/me dies]
* System F - Solstice
* Push - Strange World (2000 Remake) [close to the highlight of the night]
* Kansai - Rococco (Original Mix)
* Tomcraft - Loneliness (Klub Mix)
* East West - The Love I Lost
* Kid Vicious - Proceed
* 4 Strings - Into The Night (Coast to Coast Remix)
* Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia OMFG :eek::eyespop::D
* AR52 - Timegate [:eyespop:WOW]

I'd never heard the AR52 track before, and it was a magnificent way to finish up! Any that I've missed (and I know there's HEAPS), post them for us. Unbelievable stuff -- just a magic 120 minutes.

TA's own Reemo & Julian Reynolds had the tough task of backing up after this colossal effort, and they delivered superbly. I said after Steve's set to a friend, "How can you follow THAT?", to be answered by the strains of Viframa - Cristalle (Katana vs DJ Precision Remix). Too easy! It showed in the guys' set progression that they'd played together many times before, and they delivered a well-crafted set that included a lot of tracks I didn't know, which was very nice.

Tracks from this masterpiece that I recognised included:

* Accadia - Blind Visions (Club Mix)
* Hydra - Affinity (Thrillseekers Dub)
* Sun Decade - I'm Alone (Ronski Speed Mix)
* Talla 2XLC - Can You Feel The Silence (Flutlicht Remix) WOO HOO!!!
* GTR - Mistral

errrr... too sleep deprived to remember any more! :) Again, contribute away to this one. I'd never seen these two play before, but frankly they impressed me beyond belief with their tight mixing and the sheer amount of fun they had behind the decks. Sensational stuff, fellas.

Finally, Miss Mel arrived to take us on an old-school journey. She had some great tracks for us too - take a look at these among others...

* Push - Universal Nation (Ferry Corsten Mix)
* DJ Sakin - Protect Your Mind (Lange Mix) :eek::D
* Darude - Sandstorm
* Binary Finary - 1998 (Paul van Dyk Remix)
* Freefall ft. Jan Johnston - Skydive
* Blank & Jones - Cream :D
* Art of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix)

Unfortunately, she decided to take an occasional leaf out of the Jason Midro school of disc-jockeyship. The microphone and excessive cutting up of tracks was used to the detriment of her set. Great record crate, but next time, just spin the vinyl, ok?

Sure, I'm a promoter, but the night was a roaring success. It was honestly one of the best nights out I've had in ages. The crowd could have been placed at about 400ish? Any more accurate guesses? Either way, the vibe was amazing, the music was just world-class from 2am-6am, proving that TAs do it better! ;)

Signing off. Next event is on Friday April 4th. Don't miss it. Please. For your own sake. :D

Sounds WICKED!! Any chance of sneaking an under-ager into the club? I'm guessing it's 18+?

My l33t track spotting skills phil u know what im talking about Binary Finary errrrrrrr i mean Cafe Del Mar lol. As for his vs partner pffft backspins tottaly off, constantly on the flanger and just a cheesemonger lol U rock steve lol.

As for there being 400 people mmmm maybe, but alot of peeps came in main room when they closed the side room, so its hard to judge but as for an opening nite it can only get better imo.
