In light of recent events and recommendations Renegade Sound Labs is organizing a fresh and exciting venture focused around up-and-coming DJs. This semi-annual event will feature 2 rooms packaged with new and established talent from all over Alberta. The first room will be reserved for 7 tag team sets between Edmonton and Calgary’s finest; The second will feature a DJ Competition for up-and-coming stars. Those selected to participate will be provided a timeslot to demonstrate their skills to a group of judges. After the judges have reviewed the contestants the top DJs will be crowned and received prizes sourced and sponsored by DV8 Records and Renegade Sound Labs. We are working with David Stone to have the winners CD broadcast live on the radio after the event.
Those of you playing unique styles will be given a fair and equivalent review from our judges. All of our judges have extensive backgrounds in the music industry and appreciate all genres and styles.
Rules to Qualify:
1 – Anyone having held a residency for more than one month is not eligible
2 – We will only be accepting vinyl DJs this time around.
3 – If you have received cash for out of town events, you are not eligible.
4 – If you are sponsored and/or affiliated by a registered organization, you are not eligible
5 – You must have your own needles, slipmatts, headphones and vinyl.
6 - This event is limited to Alberta DJs only! If you are selected to compete and reside outside of Edmonton, you will be responsible in covering your own expenses.
The process for selection will be by demo CD. Those interested in participating in this competition are to drop off a mix to DV8 Records (124th St. and 109th Ave -- http://www.dv8-records.com). It must be tracked, and a minimum of 60 minutes in length.
The top 10 CDs will be selected.
