Howdy!
For rookies like myself, where are the shops worthy to buy from and the places to stay clear of? What about places offering lessons? Any feed back would be awsome! :D |

for records there's really only 2 places to get good records
Feroshus - 17th Ave
Sams - Chinook Centre
as for lessons... what kind of lessons are you looking for? |

Equipment
theres Axe(good) Long and McQuade (depends who you get, can be AMAZING, can be so so) and theres Feroshus(umm...ya, dont buy equipment @ a music store)
for Records there are lots of places...but then again, you want Sasha-esque so it cuts it alot
Feroshus Phonics and Sams are your best bets..
And actually thats pretty much it, unless you want folk, rock or hip hop
as for lessons, you are on your own. Cary Chang was thinking of it, but I havent heard anything since then.
but beatmatching isnt really something that can be taught IMO, they can reassure you that you did it wrong, or right, but cant really teach you. |

yea, you can't just take a class and *poof* you're a dj
it takes time (a lot of time) and a LOT of practice
i've been djing for about a year now and i'm still learning new stuff every time i play records
your best bet is to get chummy with one of the locals and learn that way
that's how i got into it |
