| At first that stuff bothered me but it doesn't effect me anymore, you just get used to it. |

Christofa, I was mostly replying to the overall tone that this thread had taken on. Unfortunately as raves have become more mainstream they seem to have attracted a lot of people who haven't quite grasped the basic concept. This expressed in all kinds of ways: people throwing punches, sitting in the middle of the dance floor and really ridiculuous drug use. I definately felt both frustrated and a little sad a some of the last raves I went to Van. Moving to a different room with a better vibe is DEFINATELY a better solution than throwing punches ;) and something I've done many times before.
That being said, the language we use can have a negative impact. Although I'm not a fan of political correctness to the point that it limits free speach or impairs communication, I do think we have to be aware of how we say things. Deragatory terms help to perpetuate stereotypes like the ones in this thread and can be very hurtful and intimidating. Mind you I'm a long ways from perfect as well and I know I've said things in anger that I shouldn't have. Your repply made me feel abit better about the state of things in Van.
I really think that we all need to remember why we started going to parties. For me it was the people, the vibe and the music. The smaller parites I go to still maintain this for the most part but some massives have just become a little off putting (Shambhala being one amazing excetion :D). I think a lot of us have probably had nights where we took a little too much of something:crazy: so I try to be reasonably forgiving of people who've gone overboard, although its really scary to see how prominent its become :nervous:. Anyways, end of rant.
