Well, this is my 2nd rave in Vancouver and I thought it was alright. I do love the plaza of nations though. I find tha if you really want to hear the music well though, you definately have to go the the dance floor. BUt htere's only one problem with that... the amount of ed up Asian people there!!! Now I'm not racist or anything, but poeple, please, learn how to handle your drugs and have respect for other poeple around you. THe number of groups of Asian people that held hands and just "flung" each other around like rag dolls into other partiers, that's not cool and I'm convinced that you are the people giving raves a bad name in Vancouver! (let the razzing begin)

This stuff has gone way too far. I know this is kind of an old thread but hopefully someone may read this. If anything is going to give the Vancouver scene a bad name its stuff like this. While I will admit that it is frustrating to have people sitting in the middle of the dance floor, blaming it on one racial group sure as hell doesn't fix anything. I 've encountered plenty of partiers who are too f*cked up of pretty much every ethnic origin. As for punching someone because they bumped into you while you were dancing that is ridiculous. You've never jostled someone on the dance floor? What the hell happened to PLUR? Peace. Love. Unity. Respect.
I moved away from Vancouver over a year ago. I detected some of this at the last couple big parties and it made me really sad. At Spooky 5 (2001)I felt for the first time that people were judging me based on wether I was wearing the right phat pants or not. I got a lot of weird looks for having dressed up for a HALOWEEN rave?! Have any you ever considered talking to the people who are bothering you and explaining our side of things? It might not help but hey you never know...
I happen to be white but how would you feel about going to your next party if you were Asian and you had just read a thread where people were refering to you as a "f*cked up Nammer"? If anything kills the Vancouver scene it will be attitudes like this.

I wasn't talking about Asians in general.. I think I was pretty specific. I just said it out of frustration. If it makes any difference if an Asian says it, then I can tell you that the 4 other Asians that I went with agree with me. That being said, I would never condone punching someone cause they were ed up and knocked you over. I would just take it for what it is: some drugged up guy who doesn't give a damn what dj is playing and who can't handle what they're swallowing.
Sorry if I sounded like I care more than I actually do... prodigy's post did disturb me a lil bit. I mean, really, who says "knackered". come on. ;) |
