A) it depends whether my current IP will support sony online service
B) it depends whether on how much an Everquest account will cost
C) it depends whether it will be very good, coz I ain't gonna pay around 65 Euros and each month account membership for a crap game.
So time will tell. But at the moment I'm at least curious about it? |

dont buy everquest.
It is really really really time consuming if you ever want to progress in it and it is extremely addictive and not even that fun. And once you start its really hard to stop playing. |

hehe basically the aim of the game is to progress your character. You do this by levelling up, and getting gear. You achieve this by killing monsters (and doing quests which involve kill monsters).
It is a never ending cycle, and even when you get to the maximum level it doesnt stop. Because once you do then do get the best equipment you need to take down monsters which require large amounts of poeople (ie a guild). It takes a guild sometimes around 5-6 hours to do a raid aimed mainly at killing 1 monster which will drop maybe 2 or 3 pieces of gear. It takes 50-60 people to do this and you need to be able to play at a 5-6 hr stretch. To actually enjoy doing this you need to get into the mindset that the game is really important and that gear actually means something. Cos it usually takes around 40-50 hrs of raiding for you personally to get a single item. You become really attached to your character and the longer you play the harder it is to quit because you have invested so many hours into your character.
To get to a high level to actually be able to participate in the end game and raiding uber monsters takes around 60 days played. Which is literally 60 days of your life spent in game. To get in a really power guild you need to be able to spend about 10 hours a day playing.
You get to the stage where you are playing the game every spare moment you have and you get some enjoyment in the game, the thrill of getting a new item but the rest of your life suffers.
Having said that there are some people who manage to play it totally casually and just enjoy the social aspects of it, they dont get to high levels or get into raiding and still enjoy the game just bashing monsters. But if you are the kind of person that likes to achieve in games and be the best you are going to be spending a LOT of hours in the game. And because you put so much time and work into your character it becomes hard to quit and make yourself admit that once you quit all those hours you put into getting your character gear were a waste of time :sadgreen: |
