Are there two lightnings or just one?
cycloptor
just one...plains are designed so that in the event of a lightning strike it passes through them.

WoW!!

so does lighting travel up down Or from ground up?
pnuemo
HOLY !! that is insane!!
cycloptor
the people are fine psy-trancer.... the electricity passes around them through the plane. much like a bird on a wire.

trancebunny....lightning travelles from the cloud down.

Xo|oX
well... u cant actually say that it allways does in one way... if the ground is less charged than the clouds at the moment of lightning all those electrons travel from the ground to the clouds...
and since electricity travel at the speed of light... u cant really tell =)
and actually all those people in the plane prolly never noticed that the lightning struck their plane cause the engines makes much more noise than the lightning...

and for the record, i dont know all this i just happen to be reading physics in skewl this season =)
Cafster
it CAN go from clouds down or the ground up. generally (contrary to populare belief) it will come up from the ground. in the case of pictures you can tell by looking most of the time. as the charge travels it will disperse. the first strike which doesnt hit the plane is from the ground as it scatters above the plane. the other you cant tell.

but thats pretty funky stuff
