What's the best price you've seen for Technics SL-1210M3D Direct Drive Turntables?

Soon I will be a very poor person, but at least I'll be able to spin away my woes on a new pair of Technics SL-1210M3D's. Where's the best place in Australia to buy them from? I'm thinking of getting a quote then getting my local centrals to price match it.

BTW, the best price I've seen oversees was US$419.95 (AU$711).

Also, what's the best needle to get for spinning trance? I want one that will have fantastic sound quality, but won't wear my records out. I don't want one designed for hip-hop scratching - just trance.

$700 is F**** cheap!:eyes:
You cant even get 1200's anywhere for under 800...(actually $AU849rrp)

If you buy from derringers music, theyll match your best price on 1210's, but it has to be in $AU and in australia, cos all australlian stockists bought em with our ty currency:whip: therefore: inflated prices.

And as for the needle/stylus/cartrige issue, most are designed for trackability so you wont have random needle skips while your playing in really bass filled / bumpy enviroments. With the wear issue, it really depends how much tracking force you need to be running. basically a standard 2.5g track force wont wear your vinyl out for , but if you play in a really loud environment, youll probably need to go up to about 4-5 grams(still no real problem) and buy different cartridges.

The stockie p mount cartrigdes that come with the 1200/1210s are just fine for bedroom stuf, and run at 2.5g, so theyll do just fine:)

I use 2.5g needles and they are fine, havent worn my vinyl a bit, and the tracking is fine, i een scracth with em sometimes, they'll do just fine for home djing etc.

Except once I played a party on a wooden floor. We had a few skips, but I think any needle would jump a bit on a wooden floor with everyone dancing! I was praying my records wouldn't get scratched that night! :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

Actually the person who I hire all of my Mackie's off (for 21sts etc) said he could get me a cost price cost from Derringers for me. He buys around $40,000 worth of gear from them a year, so he can pretty much get the best price around :)

I need to get two flight cases too.

I spoke to the guys @ DJ Village in Doncaster a few months back and I'm pretty sure 1200 MK2s were under 800$. I remember asking if that price would go up and he sed nup. Check 'em out.

Had a pretty good 'gut feeling' about what the guy was telling me ie. not bullting. And I was referred to them from the owner at Carlton Audio Visual, which is where I get my AV gear from. And if you ask NE1 around you won't hear a bad word about the guys at CAV - FANTASMIC service and quality stock :eyes:

So when it comes time for me to get my dex and whatnot I will be going back to DJ Village unless someone else can convince me otherwise.

2c worth
