Hey guys,
while I'm relatively new to these forums, I've been a trance nut for a long time,\.
Well, I recently got hold of the usual Audio software for my mac... and..
well, I would like you to have a listen to two of my creations :)
I did post this in the production forum, but since I'm an Aussie, I wanted to share them with my local buddies.
These are my 4th and 3rd attempt to make a song... EVER... so they are not uber professional.. but they are getting there.
I would love some feedback, tips etc etc

Aite i've only downloaded Lift of Life because im only on 56k, and am too lazy :) Its aite, few things you might wanna think about though...
The volume of the bassline is too low, gets lost where it could really carry the tune.
Good layers n key progression n all that which is good to hear.
Somethin i dont like is where you take it down into breakbeats. Sure, do it, but i would try and change the snare - cos in my humble opinion, its a horrible one :) - and add more rhythm changes to the highhats, maybe even venture into 3/4 for the hihat rhythms.. just anything so its not just the 4/4 hihats over a broken beat, cos it sounds really empty.
I like the synths, i was about to say that the tracks goin no where (because i'm listening as im downloading) but i just got to the change up at around 4:00 which is cool, i like the change in notes and it sounds wicked, especially at 4:18-4:19.
4:35 roughly theres another layer added in which is cool, i think this is where the tune really picks up and shines.
Overall a good track, though i think it needs a bit of help in the bass area, both the bassline and the kick itself. They're both a bit weak and the volume needs to be turned up on both (my opinion tho). If you're gonna have that breakbeat, do it well. There's nothing worse than a cheap breakbeat and i laugh when i hear one :p So work on that, and add to it. Try this program hear --> http://www.lysator.liu.se/~zap/stomper/stomper5.exe to muck around with ur beats, you can even make those beats which mirco de govia uses where the bass drops n reasonates, pretty cool :) wait a seccie, ur using a mac no?...well that Stomper program is for windows, so if you can use it, do! :cool:

i downloaded these two tracks the same night as i downloaded that new paul van dyk set, so i hope i'm excused for completely forgetting about these tracks :)
Quite good overall, I like Lift of Life :)
Keep plugging away at it, and your sound will continue to develop. As always, practice makes perfect :) |
