yeah right. Everyone around here just labels the majority of electronica under "techno." It's a common mistake but I just wish if they don't know what it is the least they could do is just say "dance" music. That would just grate on my nerves that little bit less. I believe it's not even that they dislike it as much as they think, it's just they're so underexposed to it they don't know what it is. The only people I know around here that like trance are some of the local bar dj's, and they all say the same thing "I can't play that since people don't dance to it." I pretty much understand but on the flipside I feel like if you don't try once in a while, they'll never have a chance to experience it for what it really should be. The worst part is the people around here are even caught in the can't do too much of it phase that the only time I can really sit down and talk music with them is when they're not playing, 'cuz once they're into a set it keeps coming back to "not right now" issues. blah
Anyhow, as for the techno issue what really bugs me most about them calling it techno is lately I've found myself more interested in techno. (Not more than trance, just more interested than before) Right now I'd rank it my 2nd fave type of music to listen to. I pretty much like all sorts of electronica but outside of trance and techno it's more of a case of "I have to be in the mood for it"
DarkTrance
