hey im not midwest, but i can vouch for what its like, Ultra is the main event that consists of every dj you've almost ever heard of, and like 10 different arenas(tents set up with stages in them), the Ultra arena is the main stage with actual seats and a lawn in the back, that one particular place can hold probably 35%-40% of the entire event, the main dj's spin there one after another, they all spin about 1 hour a piece, the really big names come on just after dark, and thats when the place blows up, there are people with crazy costumes walking around and also wearing anything and everything you can imagine,... the whole conference deal is mainly for the dj's and aspiring dj's to get their name out and to make contacts with record companies, buy equipment, schmooze with the big dogs etc.., each night of that week though just about every club in Miami has a huge dj headlining and some even have a 2 to 5 lined up for one night, other than Ultra its hard to have to pick and choose which clubs to go to,... one really bad thing is that b/c of the high demand and huge interst in all the clubs, the clubs charge more to get in and its just a mad house b/c every club is so packed.... but then again when else can you see that many big names in one week..... personally i just drive down for Ultra and then go home, i cant afford anymore, also its only a 4.5 hour drive for me so i can just hop down and back in a couple days,...hope this all helps
