Earthcore school report

Well since no-one else has mentioned this amazing event i will fill you all in on the details. It was a tough choice over sasha in canberra but im way satisfied with the decision.

Drove out past ballarat to a massive ex volcano crater, which as you drove up the road wasn't even visible. Not until driving over the lip did the sheer size of this become evident.

5 stages of madness and this was everything i had hoped for.

Special mentions.

Infusion. I have to say without a doubt these guys are wicked, they had the main stage going off, and are my fav aus dance act by a country mile.

Other special mentions.

As dawn arrived so did Juno Reactor, and i will admit to not knowing much before earthcore but i am happy to have seen them in the flesh. Sometimes ambient sometimes going off, they were excellent.

Although there was silence for a while after them it was worth the time to set back up for James Monroe of flying rhino fame. He played a wicked set of psi trance that wasn't too tough but suited 6 till 8 perfectly.

Aaron Smiles was after him and as per the Astrals gig at billboard he brought the crowds back (Melb support) and was having the time of his life.

And what a way to finish off. James Holden was Fantastic while playing to a small but dedicated crowd, including by that time people in all manner of dress and un-dress.

:eyespop:

Two of the strangest happenings of the night were the choice of some encores. Dr b on the main stage chose a Radiohead track that had me ready to hang myself, not quite in keeping with the mood of the night. And another hydra trance dj choose Abba - Arrival which sounded very strange booming out of the speakers. If you don't know it go find your mums copy of arrival and have a listen, i had to check if my ears were playing tricks.

Towards the end i was doing a few trips to the car for essentials and was pretty impressed with the tunes Nick Sentience was dropping. Considering his 10.30 til 12.30 timeslot (next morning) there wasn't hard house in sight, he was playing some great trance, albeit at the middle to harder end of the scale.

All in all earthcore as it did last year delivered everything it promised. Wicked music, under the stars with a very friendly crowd.

10/10:D

I would expect that from Nick Sentience, he's a in champion. Glad you had a great night sounded like fun :D

What sort of stuff was James Holden playing?

Was it like his EM or more like the more pumping stuff he put on his Silver Planet CD?
