PAUL VAN DYK - FEB19 CHICAGO!

Blake613
Hmm I need to get a good fake id.
DJ Fin
no offense to serious PvD fans out there, as I am one myself . . .
but I seriously doubt the pull PvD has on 21+ in Chicago is all that great. No joke. Transit's main room isn't exactly all that large (compared to showcase arenas like the Riv) . . . but 21+ in Chicago has little to no interest in things musically-minded, they just want drinks and T&A (can you blame them?) . . . and most of the musically-minded 21+ peeps in Chicago are VERY anti-trance and VERY anti-PvD (they think he's cheese because they're idiots and don't know any better) . . . the only way this would get as crowded as everyone seems to think it will is if:
#1) the "see and be seen" followers think this is "the place to be" that night and make an appearance
#2) enough of you underagers get quality fakes
#3) "Chicago" gets enough pull from surrounding areas who don't feel like travelling to the other big cities to see him

besides the fact that it is a Wednesday . . . if I were on Paul's team, I'd tell him to not even bother coming to Chicago, it's a waste of time right now . . . but, oh well, he's getting paid, right?

I just know that CAW and I won't be there and two other HUGE PvD fans I know will most likely end up going (for free) but aren't really all that excited about it (not like this summer)

Yeah, that's a very good point. He is going to love a lot of money if it goes through as being 21+. It's not ilke it's a huge city like NY with a good scene. Oh well! what can ya do..:conf:

All due respect Fin, but I think you're dead wrong here. The second time I saw PvD was on a weeknight at Crobar. Cover was $40, and they had to turn people away eventually. The guy still has huge name recognition. Remember the DJ Tiesto show? 21+, right? As I said earlier, it was rumored to be the best-attended DJ event in Chicago ever. I think Tiesto's reputation is just as cheesy as PvD's. Yes it's on a weekday, but Pure is a trusted name in promoting, they'll do a good job. Plenty of 21+ people like trance. They just might not admit it :). I mean shoot, PvD falls all over himself to say "I am NOT a trance DJ!". WTF? When did the music I love become a dirty word?

I don't think people in their 20s are any less passionate about music than people under 21. The "cheese" thing has some power to turn people off, but I think when it comes down to it, trance has a very wide appeal.
