Worst neighbor hood outside of US?

I was thinking about some very bad neighborhoods in the States (much of Baltimore, East St. Louis, basically all of Washington D.C except for where the government is, etc.) and was wondering what other really bad places (i.e go there at your own peril) there were in your neck of the world.
U.S people, please bring up another neighborhood if you can think about it. |

umm you cant go wrong with saying south Detroit. alt its not AS bad as it seems, and i think Muskegon has a higher rate of crime in Michigan.
as for richest/poorest not sure. seems like a fact someone else could look up tho| |

richest states? i would guess california (hollywood, music industry), and texas (oil).... i do believe that washington state is also pretty wealthy (there are MANY of the forbes top list that reside there)... and obviously new york simply b/c of the huge industry in EVERYTHING....
worst neighborhoods? i would vote for south-central L.A, b/c you can get shot just for driving down the wrong street. Best neighborhoods? Ironically, just 'down the street' from south central, is beverly hills, possibly one of the ritziest communities on the planet... also maybe malibu, the living there is spectacular... maybe carmel region as well (mostly all in california if you noticed)...
i'd also say south beach, miami... a lot of money and good stuff down there... Manhattan upper east side - not really "nice", but ritzy... Aspen, CO has serious money and sick houses, and just north of Ft. Lauderdale, FL in Hillsboro, there is the famed "hillsboro mile", with 20+ million dollar homes along the beach for, (you guessed it), about a mile.... some of these homes look like high schools, one looks like a shopping mall, one looks like the taj mahal... just ridiculous. |

Well, around where I live, you see homeless people all over, begging for money. Last year, someone got mugged at gunpoint right infront of the Lash Miller Chemical Labs, just across the street from where I live.
Hmm, I used to live around jane&finch, in toronto, aparantely littered with drug dealers and crime. There were like, 4 shootings this weekend in Toronto, bringing the homocide count to 45 this year, which I guess isn't alot compared to US counterparts.
But, a couple a years ago, my family went down to stay with my uncle for 2 weeks in the Bronx. He had just come to the country with his family, (wife and 3 kids), and they lived in an apartment that was literally the size of 3 of my dorm rooms. He had been there for 2 months, and had already had people try to mug him. Kids were letting off cherry bombs right beside our car while we were stopped at a red light. My mom was like "roll up the windows!"
I've also been to other parts of New York, detroit, miami, atlanta. Never been west though.
So, relative to that experience, Toronto looks pretty safe. |

i believe that the richest state in the U.S. is (sadly) New Jersey, while the poorest is West Virginia... that's what was brought up in a sociology class...
as for bad neighborhoods in the rest of the world... think of places in south africa... Johannesburg is supposed to be really bad; it's ridiculous what happens there... people get murdered while waiting at a light while someone tries to steal their car... among other things... |

i believe that was said to be Missouri, if i am not mistaken.
Worst hood in Seattle? probably along the wesern side of Lake Washington, in other words, South East Seattle - Rainier Avenue/MLK Jr. Way - projects, community housing...i don't feel comfortable driving there. only to think that the east side of Lake Washington sports million dollar estates.

If you're ever in Sydney, don't go to Lakemba or Cabramatta... Lakemba is where people do drive-by shooting on police stations and 15 y/o girls get pack raped. Cabramatta is where all the Asian heroin trade is concentrated, people literally walk up to you on the street and say "you wanna score" and show u a knife .. so u have no choice, u hafta buy some drugs....
South Africa is supposedly one of the most dangerous westernised countries in the world for crime - carjackings, home invasions, the whole shebang... |
