Lets not forget that FHM is targetted at a particular segment of hte market - the sort of people who probably wouldn't think twice about going "hur-hur-hur" when they read that stuff .. it doesn't make any difference to them whether people died or not..
i agree that this is a pretty ordinary performance, but at the same time .. they have done worse than this..
personally, they should just take out the un-funny articles and replace em with more pix of models :D
why else would you buy it? |

Liverpool Fans all around the world especially Australia & the UK constantly were flooding FHM Australia everyday with emails. Editor of FHM, John Bastirk made a lame contradictingly weak apology, but after around 24 hours, There was a REAL proper apology by John Bastirk's boss, Geoff Campbell. FHM Australia will be making donations to the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and Hillsborough support Group. This couldn't be done without FHM UK who put the pressure on FHM Australia to take better action, as FHM UK would fear a boycott. .
Its a nice thing to know that people power still works in the world. :)
| quote: | Thank you for your email regarding FHM Australia November issue. I would
like to assure you that we are taking this matter extremely seriously. I
would also like to express our total regret for the suffering and sorrow
caused by the article.
FHM Australia will be printing an apology in the magazine and making a
private donation to the charities established by the victims families of the
Hillsborough disaster.
The Publishing Director there has also made a public apology and has
expressed his regret both through the media and directly to the people of
Liverpool who were affected by the tragedy.
I am sending you a copy of his statement as follows.
David Davies
Editor
FHM UK
A statement from the Australian Publishing Director follows:
'We deeply regret the photograph captions published in the November issue of the Australian edition of FHM, accompanying an article about the Hillsborough disaster of 1989. FHM Australia has its own editorial team and these captions were written and published without consultation with the UK edition, or any other edition of FHM.
FHM Australia has clearly acted without sensitivity and in a totally
inappropriate manner. We unreservedly apologise for the anguish and painthat such treatment of the Hillsborough disaster has caused to the relativesand friends of the victims, of all those present, and of all those touched by such a disaster.
The right course of action is to withdraw this edition from sale - which we will be doing. We have been in contact with the Hillsborough Family Support Group and the Hillsborough Justice Campaign to express our deep regret and sincere apologies. We have informed them that a full apology will be published in the Australian edition, due for circulation at the beginning of December, and although the offending article was not published in the UK, the apology will also appear in the UK edition, with similar timing.
FHM will be making a donation to both of the fighting funds after further
consultation with the groups involved'.

Would it be humour if FHM did a Bali version?
I think not. |

Well then, I'm ashamed to be Australian if that's the case.
I ain't no prude but I know humour when I see it and that my friend goes against all grains of human decency.
Therefore, it is not humour, let alone Australian humour. :( |
