As for getting to know DJs
Go to ur local club and which ever DJ is in ur style of music, become friends with him/her or go to ur local record shop
DO THIS......its helped me out greatly
I became good friends w/ two DJs and they have taught me alot.....
This is how I also met my babies (Tech 1200 Mk2s)
they let me sit in the DJ booth and watch how they mix etc. They also gave me tips and all kinds of good stuff.
Its always good to know someone in the indusrty you want to get a job in.
Also, this has brought me:
1. 2 good friends I can trust
2. Someone I can tag along with when they do shows outta town. (Well, they usually invite me so Im always there) |

I'm sorry to sound like a dick, but this has got to be th most asked question of all the new people, first of all let me welcome you bluastigma, glad to see you have joined us. Your best bet is to do a search under gettin started and that should have almost all of the answers that you need, any other questions feel free to ask. Again, welcome, and I'm not really an , just tryin to help you out in findin the information that you are lookin for.

i had the same problem that you had a few months ago [since i live in mississippi and go to school in nashville...not big into the trance scene] but i decided to suck it up and buy a pair of turntables, mixer, headphones and music and just started mixing... you can learn alot on your own. recently looking for cases i came across this site... http://music.hyperreal.org/dj/AVH/index.html#intro
seemed to have everything that i thinki figured out on my own so i guess its a sanity check for me. besides that there seem to be alot of really friendly and experienced people here. other then that, since you arent new to the music you shouldnt have too much trouble
good luck |
