B-Good
Enough plugging Viva already !

I have been thinking about this whole trance night for a long time now.
I think that its worth a go. And as a go I mean not a stupid wendsday or tuesday night but a Friday or saturday ( Sat is better cause then everyone can get destroyed with out wasting the whole weekend ).
From going to see shows such ass tiesto and just talking to people that I meet around town. There is enough of a trance loving crowd to sustain a big trance night Bi-Weekly or monthly. The only thing is that you have to make it worth paying for. Cause cover is going to have to be high. Like 15-20 bucks high. People will pay it for the right reason.
One reason that they will pay is if you make a big fuss about the DJ.
Make the DJ seem like he or she is famous. You can do this with locals but you got to find some one good and find an already big name to hype them up. Once you have a big resident people get all excited about seeing them play.
Few people ( fewer trance lovers ) will pay high prices to see a nobody play cause they wont play with the energy that some hyped up dj will. Eg. Paul Van Dyk or Dj Rebel. Who would you be excited to see more. Im guessing PVD. Why cause you know who he is and you've heard great things about him.
Has to be a nice venue and not a going to be nice venue. If you start off in a hole you will always drag the memory of that hole along with your night. This could be great as the fans that you get will be good fans who are there for all the right reasons. But it makes it hard to get that hype about your night out side of the group thats already hyped on it.
Most important and is going to be the hardest to control. The type of crowd that you have.
You have to kick out ed up people. Drugs can be fun and they are part of nightlife. When people get to messed up it messes the whole scene up. The problem with this in this city is who are you going to kick out. You have to keep the asian gangs out (as before mentioned what Viva used to be like). The thing about these people is that they like trance alot and they seem to like drugs alot. So they or they're friends maybe messed and how can you make them leave with out putting you life on the line. This is the hardest thing to do of all, but its whats going to make a good reputable night last in this city.

I hope that my Two cents has been informative.
I know that you all probably would love to hear more about me ranting on this topic but ill leave it that.

If you are serious about doing this get aholed of Scott Audio. Him and his friends have been promoting regular house nights in this city for years. Im sure that he could give you the low down on what to do and what not to do in the matter of an electronic music night on Van.
If you go to the Drink night club a fridays your sure run into him there. Another way to talk to him is to message him on Clubvibes.com, hes a very active member on there forums and his name on there is CLUB.

Cheers and good luck with what ever you decide to do.
Johnny
