Pom It's the acronym of "Port of Melbourne", the port where British immigrants landed in the colonization of Australia.
Pome - "Property of Mother England" Used in Australia, New Zealand, etc. Probably related to and/or another version of Pom.
Pohm - "Prisoner Of Her Majesty". Used mainly in Australia as a derogatory term for British People. Comes from the fact that Australia was a prisoner colony for British Prisoners. |

According to my French teacher (who spoke out of her arse most of the time admittedly - yes, quite a talent) the English are called "poms" because the French word for apples is "pomme" and so the French started calling them that because they though that the English people had red cheeks that, you guessed it, looked like apples.

| I don't kow how anyone can give Steve Erwin . Yes, he's a fool, but a damn funny one. Did anyone see him on Rove. I missed it, but the add summed it up. When you go in, ya gotta go in hard. When you go up against a croc like that you gotta be fair dinkum (show picture of inflatable croc) |
