Ikaruga: A Shooter Masterpiece

X-Multiply
For those of you out there that may have an old Dreamcast laying around, there is one final reason to dig it out and blow the dust off. Probably one of the last and final games for it was released today. Ikaruga is one of the most spectacular shooters I have ever played. Did anyone else out there get this? Just take a look at these screenshots. This game seriously has some of the best graphics in a game I have ever seen. The Dreamcast was such a kickass system and its a shame it had to die. This game truly pushes its power to the maximum.

I never really liked the DC...and when I played it for the first time I predicted it wasn't going to last more than a year...which was pretty much true. My predictions are about the same for the Xbox :D :haha:

Yes I agree with you that the Xbox will most likely be the first to go. The PS2 and the Gamecube will outlast it without a doubt. The Dreamcast though had some amazing titles, especially if you were a fighter fan. Plus if you are short on cash, the Dreamcast can be had new for 60 bucks, and a massive library of games is only a download away. Images can be burned and played without any modification whatsoever making this system a great one to have at the moment. If anyone is interested in Ikaruga pictured above, PM me.

I'll agree with you that DC had the best fighters. Soul Calibur is my absolute favorite fighter of all time, but that will most likely be taken over by Soul Calibur 2 for PS2 when it releases. See, almost all the good games that came out on DC have been ported to other systems since the DC went down...rendering the DC useless. Why would I buy a DC when I can play Soul Calibur on PS2 or Jet Grind Radio on XBox and Crazy Taxi...that game is on every system now.

Sega makes great games but sadly, they don't know how to market them.

Hell yes Soul Calibur kicks ass! I see what you are saying however, there are a load of games that have not been ported to any other system other than the DC. I'm mainly talking Japanese games especially like Ikaruga for example. There are also a ton of shooters like Ikaruga, Mars Matrix and Giga Wing 1 and 2 just to name a few. And personally, my favorite fighter of all time is MK4 and MK4 Gold is only available on the DC. But nobody really cares about that game it seems but me so thats not really important! :)

I guess it all depends on what type of game is your favorite. I love old school shooters so the best systems for that are the DC and the Saturn. Also currently, the DC will give you the most bang for your buck. Yes you can download games for the PS2 and burn them just like the DC but you must have a modchip or another smiliar device to allow for it. The DC requires no modification whatsoever which is perfect if you are low on the funds. Some of my friends have no job and the DC offers them the opportunity for a mere 50 or 60 bucks to have a huge library of games. Their only expense is the CD-R disks.
