flame away.

Solid effort! It's good for an amateur production, but I'm trying to compare it vs stuff i'd actually pay money for.

I think driver is decent. The concept is good, but its a bit long. The whole section after the middle breakdown is kind of boring until you introduce that synth line, and you probably let the breakdown last too long in general, but that's just personal taste. I'm not really feeling the bass, and the buildup "whoosh" sound is pretty lame. If your sound design was better this track would be very playable, but as it stands the whole thing feels kind of flat. Maybe adding more dynamic drum patterns would help as well.

Human could be good but I really don't like the top synth. My favorite parts of the track are the beginning and the last 2 minutes after it's gone. I'm pretty lukewarm on the "vocal" as-is, I think it could use something to spice it up a bit. Also, the track is pretty steady and grooving. You don't need to put in a giant build IMO, and you've got the same problem here with the lame whoosh. I want to stress again that I think the last 2 minutes are very good, and could easily make the basis for an ace track.

The ending of the second track, around the 8:30 mark with out the hi hat sounds like and intro to an AWESOME tech house track. All it needs is some filtering for the build up leading up to a BANGING bass line and you have a hit!

Not much into prog my self, so that's all I can really say...

thanks fellas, so you guys dig the ending of 'human'.

haha yeah sadface, the whoosh needs help. and thank you nero, i'll for sure have to do some automation and start putting those ideas to work.

thanks for checking'em out!

i liked them both quite a bit, seems like it could gain a lot from some professional mastering

maybe little tweaks here and there, good stuff. i'd buy it when it's releassed :)

Junior, good effort. Making a good track can be tricky.

I'd say pretty much ditch "Human." There is that part that the previous posters have mentioned, but it's pretty weak on it's own.

I personally like "Driver" 4:02 to 5:10. There is nothing wrong with the whoosh sound. Sure you could modify it a little bit, but it's not that big of a deal. Find another whoosh sound similar to it that is a little thinner and more dynamic and trails off a little smoother. You have a solid groove going on from 4:02 to 5:10. I would take a track that has a similar sound that you like and has been successful and then follow the structure it has built in so you have a foundation from which you can lay more bricks.

Definitely add some more dynamic drum patterns to spice it up a bit.

Remember that mastering is only going to do so much. You have to really fine tune the mix first and the programming. Start out with good sounds and you will end up with a great sound.

The other synth sounds/stabs kind of conflict with your main groove/303-sounding bassline. They bring the energy of the track down a little it. Keep on trying with this track and I'm sure something really bagngin' will come out of it.

Good percussion and hi-hat sound :D

word! I'll keep at it. thanks man!

Hey Junior didn't I see you play this summer in OC the same night as Cowboy Mike?
-FSP-
2nd one is way better than the first. Looks like im in the minority here. Not a fan of either since I'm not into those sounds though. I can see the second song in someone's DJ set though.

Anyways, keep at it. Good work.

EDIT: hehehehh, and you guys want to know something funny... i made these tracks on ableton 6 months ago with only 4 months of exp. now that i sold my PC and have a mac i have to learn logic. i'm liking it so far though. wish i knew more friends that produce though... i need to bounce some ideas off someone and learn the engineering side because apparently creativity alone won't get the job done.

Anyone out there willing to collabo and work on some tunes?
I have a 6 gig ram macbook pro with an Akai MPK Mini so it's portable. Willing to meet up anywhere in so cal.
