Madden 2003 vs. NFL2K3

Does anyone have these games? I'm leaning toward buying Madden, but can anyone make a case for NFL2K3?

this is what some guy said in some boards...

N F L 2 k 3 -vs- M a d d e n 2 0 0 3

I have both and I play with friends all the time. We were hardcore Madden players until this year.
From what little time we've had with both games we've concluded:
With the AI set to all Madden we can still chuck 50 yard bombs on each other. I was the Bucs, my friend was the Phins. Chris Chambers had 300+ yds and Jay Fielder had over 450+ yds. He scored over 60 points on me. I point this particular time out because this was the one time we decided to finish one of our games of Madden 2003. We play 6 minute quarters, pride ourselves on our football knowledge, and I can't defend against any quarterback who drops back and hurls it 50 yards. Coverage be damned. In that last straw game against Miami, Chambers broke 9 tackles and each time the ball hit his hands he scored. I have a bad time with mistiming DB swats and jumps, so I wait until it is right upon the DB and WR to take control, if I do that much. Two times making contact and swatting the ball in a row knocked it into Chamber's waiting hands, then he broke at least one tackle and rampaged to the endzone. A simple lob every play. I won't go into the game the Johnsons had for me, I won. My rbs didn't have a broken tackle at all.
Not to say there aren't some great things about Madden 2003 because there really are, like the create a formation and create a play, the training camp mode, the graphics, and still other things on top of it.
So we got NFL 2K3. It is hard to get used to after years of Madden, but we are catching on. We've found it to be more realistic, a bit more of a simulator than Madden. My friend and I tried a game with the Bears and Rams and Warner ate me up and Anthony Thomas rampaged through their defense. Then we tried 2 suck teams, the lions and texans, and watched the comedy of errors ensue. And we realized, the stats matter, the play calling matters, your personel on the field matter. Everything that should have an effect on the game actually seems to affect the game. Another friend and I tried a game with the seahwaks and the redskins in driving snow and heavy wind with thick fog. He won 3-0 of a turnover deep in my territory and it was a heavenly change from what we're used to.
To sum up, if you are looking for more of an arcade game, I'd say get Madden. If you want more of a football simulator, it seems to be NFL 2K3. If you can afford it, and aren't closed minded to the college game, you might also want to give NCAA 2003 by EA a try. Even my friends who don't like college football have enjoyed it. If you're someone who needs any kind of football they can get their hands on, NCAA 2003 is worth a rent.

i don't know about the 2003 versions, but after renting the 02 versions a few times, i thought there was no comparison between the two. Madden, all the way.

they were played on x-box, btw.

since then, i've bought madden, and me and a buddy are into season 7 on our franchise mode.

(on what platform was that review from?)
