Planning trip March 13-16 any advice appreciated

Hello, I'm a Miami TA and was going for a conference at the Georgia Congress on March 13-16. Would appreciate any assistance as far as what hotel you would recommend? Is downtown that bad of an area at night or would midtown be a better place? Thank you.

Not sure what your budget is, but I'd probably stay at the Omni Hotel myself, $249/night. Right across the street from Georgia World Congress Center if I'm not mistaken and it's not really a bad area -- close to the aquarium, World of Coca~Cola, Centennial Olympic Park, and its even connected to the CNN Studios.

That area is sketchy at night, but the hotel is not dangerous. You basically just don't want to be anywhere in ATL at night ;)

Thanks. Was thinking sub $200. Would the W in midtown be a good choice? Taxi to convention and probably sightsee sunday and tuesday.

Doesn't look like The W would be cheaper, looks like it'd be a little more expensive in fact, $295/night? (assuming I'm looking at the right prices). I'm not too familiar with that area aside from Opera and Piedmont Park. I'd probably still take The Omni myself or go for a noticeably cheaper place. (If The W is cheaper, and I'm looking at incorrect prices, ignore this).
Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech (Marriott) is $169/night. Can safely say that area is sketchy as at night, but if you're not out past 10pm, it might work?
And actually -- looking at Google Maps to see what else there is, Google Maps is listing The Omni at $152/night +fees, and Courtyard Atlanta Midtown/Georgia Tech at $139/night +fees -- if you go through Expedia/whatever. (Edit: Just clicked in my head, those $$ are probably for booking right now, not middle of March.) |

Thank you both for your replies. I was able to book the W for $ 129/night, through a Friend and family rate.

There are a lot of great local restaurants in Midtown, plus you're walking distance from the Park and the Botanical Gardens, and the High Museum, if you're into art.
