I know hard trance and I know epic trance
but I need some of a more progressive side to open up sets.
tho I dont really know the music. Could you guys give me an idea of some music that will build into epic, on the progressive side. And if possible, stay away from whats being canned, or is played out.
so good progressive-ish trance records that arent played out.
if such things exists (im sure there are 1 or two dozen)
lemme know(and where I can buy online) |

Sometimes i find there are a little speed differences between prog and melodic/epic or whatever its called, so i usually pitch up my progressive records first.
here are a few good ones:
Paul van dyk - colombia (im not sure if you can call it progressive but it has kinda of a progressive element that can tie prog to trance)
Starcase - Faith (check out other starcase stuff. goddam quality)
iio - rapture
orinoko - island (moogwai mix)
bedrock -voices
medway - my release
midway - monkey forest
trancesetters - roaches (starts with very little elements)
trancesetter - synergy
kosheen - hide u (satoshi tomiie mix)
green velvet - flash (a classic imo)
Timo maas - ubik
i tried to pick a few borderline between prog and trance
if you want real progressive i can recommend some better ones |

i'd recommend
Sasha - Scorchio (Sander K mix)
Sander K - My Lexicon (ACE!)
Van M & LEEDS - MORE (Groovejet mix)
Jaya - Excursions (original mix)
Luzon - Baguio track
Jamnesia - My memory is back |

Lyric & Natali - Over Emotion (Smart Systems's Souvenir Mix)
Roland Klinkenberg - Inner Laugh (Steve Porter Remix)
Tijuana - Groove is in the Air (Moonface MK2 Mix) --> Very nice tune for in the beginning of a set
The first two are on Lost.Language. Often, tunes on Lost.Language are progressive-ish trance (as you call it :) ).
The third tune is on Bedrock (it doesn't get anymore progressive than that ;) )
By the way, I think you shouldn't buy/play records just because they are progressive, or because you think you _must_ build up a set in a certain way. Just go for the records you like and create your own sound/style...It is much more fun that way.
Obviously, starting out a set with some nice progressive tunes and then building up to some more banging trance is a good way do a set, don't get me wrong...I do it all the time :D
Just remember there's more than one road that leads to Rome (<-- dutch expression, Don't know if it makes sense to people from other countries :toothless

it sure does make sense,
there is a greek expression similar to that one
(makes no sense at all in english + kinda hard to translate):
a good brave young man knows another path
free translation:
a nice guy will always find another way
(i think this one is easier to undestand) |
