Think of it this way,
A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15 mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year.
A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons a year.
So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.
They claim 700,000 vehicles were traded in so that's 224 million gallons saved per year.
That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.
5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption.
More importantly, 5 million barrels of oil at $70 per barrel costs about $350 million dollars
So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to save $350 million.
We spent $8.57 for every dollar saved.
How good a deal was that ???
They'll probably do a great job with health care though!!

yeah right, dont get me started on this administration.were spending more money on this so called stimulus than the trillion dollars its worth. not to mention the interest on top of that. creates jobs for who? illegals that make our roads and bridges? thats about it. you dont see no white or black folks out there pouring concrete. maybe one, he's the manager. the one thing that was good about the cash for clunkers is that it did save some auto companies from going under. they should have made it for american made cars only. the cars from other countries have been doing well even with the recession.those are the cars that sold the most during cash for clunkers. so why not focus on our own country during these tough times. i might have been brainwashed by bush, but i learned my lesson. obama is worse and he criticizes bush for lying. that head lies everyday.i didnt vote for him. I dont put all of it on him. its those dumb ass democrats on the left that make most of these dumb ass decisions. they will lose their seats next year. i cant wait! |

Heh, the V.A. hospitals pretty much define what nationalized healthcare will be like. So, in my opinion, if it gets past then everyone gets to go through the same bull I do.:tongue2
