CDJ difference?

Hey folks,

Right so ive cdj's mk1's and ive been mixing on them for a good while now, im trying to get a gig somewhere so if i do and i end up in a club where the set up is cdjs 800s or ect, is there a big difference?

Im too used to the mk1000s so if im presented with different decks i dont want to be fazed. I do only mix through, cue/play and tempo adjusting, eg the basics, so i cant see why there would be a difference?

I just want to be more that ready

if your just using the basics on them to mix you can go back and forth between the mk's and 800's without a problem.i own the 800's and when i play out they usually have the mk's and its never been an problem.in fact i like the mk's more because i think the beatmatching on them is tighter and i like the feel of the jog wheel more.

in fact the first time i played out they had the mk's there and i had never used them before because i didnt own my 800's yet.i came in early to the club just to practice with them cuz i was so nervous i was gunna screw up.but there real user freindly.the night went great and the next day i went out and bought the 800's just so i would be more familiar with the setup next time.

if you have never played out before you will probably have way more trouble with your monitoring than with the cdjs:)

<3 mixing in headphones

even then you have to be careful to make sure what is going out in front of you is ok.

Mos def. I did this yesterday (luckily, only playing in my house) by not realizing that my crossfader was turned on. :stongue:

I was attempting to mix my old Parliament Funkadelic records. I was like "aw hell yeah that transition was actually pretty sweet", took the headphones off, and no sound. Sigh.

I'm pretty paranoid about checking the "out" sound often when I play out, though. I often remove the right cup and go back and forth.

lulz yep thats so true!thats exactly what happened to me my first night actually. the head monitor was junk.thankfully ive been mixing inside my headphones from day one,its the only way i do it. so it wasnt a problem for me but i was suprised how many dj's a i know cant do it.the only time i use one cone is when im playing vinyl and even then i clean it up in the headphones.

800 and 1000? You should have absolutely no problem.

As someone above said, you'll have more of an issue with the monitoring and loud volume, if anything. You'll be fine though.
