Although its output volume is not really loud, I love my X-station 49. It's a cracking VA synth. The controls, the keyboard, and the features are great. You get a nice bunch of Software instruments, too. I wish they gave V-station free with it, so it would make life a lot easier, when integrating X-station into the software environment (as both share the exact same technology).

Integration is not like a Virus TI though, you have to keep that in mind. There's latency and most probably no delay compensation when recording the built-in synth. Besides that, it's all good and it sounds fatter than the SH201 that I also used to have effectively does. It's not a supersaw machine, at least.

I've owned both the 49- and 25-key versions and I really liked them. I sold them when I got my Virus Polar, but if I had the space and need for another MIDI controller, I'd probably go back to the X-Station 49. I always liked the sound of the synth portion as well - as Lolo mentioned, it's not a supersaw machine, but it's great for pads, arps, and basses.

How many keys are you planning on getting? If you are looking at the 25 key one, I recommend getting a second hand K-Station instead. The K-Station comes with a vocoder, instead of the inbuilt sound card. The sound card in the X-Station sucks, so it is a non-feature IMO.

Anyway, for $730AUD I don't think it is worth it.

thanks for your prompt replys..

umm thats good to hear...

i might buy it..

i wont be using it for its sound card as i have a external one..

so ill be using it for its synth and its midi keyboard.

can you tell me exactly why the soundcard sucks for you? Of course I didn't expect an apogee/digidesign AD, but still I think it's quite ok at 400 Euros for the whole package.
