I started working on this mix about a month ago when Matthias asked me to do a mix for his new night, Migrashun. I finished the tracklist fairly quickly, mixed it in one take in ableton, then sent it off. After handing it off, I kept coming back to it to add a tool, rework a section, or experiment with the rain theme by adding different samples and fx. In this sense I guess you could say its a blend of a live mix and a studio mix. What came out as the final product is 20 minutes longer than the original, and has two climaxes. I got this idea while seeing Paco Osuna @ Hed Kandi this past WMC. His set was full of driving, percussive techno then after two hours, he sort of wound things down with a serious drop in energy. The party wasn't over though, Paco just kicked it into afterhours mode from there. I thought this was a pretty cool idea, and so I tried to bring that feeling through in this mix.
I'm not expecting that this mix will be for everyone, and you've certainly got to be in the right mood to listen to it. Regardless, enjoy the tunes and please let me know your thoughts.

is this different then the version we got? if so by how much? would like to check it again if it is. |

of course, of course, my mistake, its a MIGRASHUN (of midwestern crackheads)! wink wink nod nod nod :p I had a fun time on thursday dude, can't wait for the next one. the half price sushi truly hit the spot around midnight.
it is pretty different from the version I sent to you, I added a tool that plays for the first 15 minutes or so then added a bunch at the end. I also tweaked a lot of stuff here and there. And I'm still not 100% happy with it. sigh. |
