NFL Draft 2009

Lebezniatnikov
Is anybody happy with their team's draft?

I was initially miffed about the Vikings drafting Percy Harvin, considering he's going to be under pretty close scrutiny as a result of the whole marijuana at the NFL combine thing. But he's a real athlete, so I can't complain there. I've come around on him a bit, but I just heard that he's going to have a steel plate put into his ankle this offseason yet, which worries me a bit about how that will affect his biggest upside: his quickness.

Other than that, glad to see the Vikes get a legit OT in the second round.

Jets seem to be having a very good draft. Shonn Green was a steal, and Sanchez could be the real deal.

Bills did well too, and I'm sure the Patriots got even better.

I think the Eagles hit the jackpot with Maclin - that kid is lightning fast. Him and DeSean Jackson are going to give the Eagles a very credible passing game next season, and finally let them stop relying on Reggie Brown for production.

I'm just glad the Browns were stopped in their attempt to get every single pick in the 6th Round. :P Trading down three times in the first round? Crazy.

The Eagles had a GREAT Draft, but they got lucky to have such a great WR available at #19. But they did pick up a great TE and RB to. Patriots had a pretty solid draft also.

yeah i'm pissed with the browns, we didn't fill any needs.

Didn't the Browns like trade down a few times? Then draft a position they didn't really need? lol

Working out Graham Harrell though - could be a quality addition if Quinn pisses himself again.

yay go eagles! :D um is there anywhere to read a "summary" or something like that on the draft overall and how the specific teams went?

Well it's not terrible, they got a late 1st and two more 2nd round picks - out of an early 1st rounder. Only problem may be that they passed up on a franchise type of player to grab a bunch of depth.

If our first rounder (Alex Mack) pans out, that'll be really good - he's smart and physical, but I dunno about the overall package. Probably not worth where they took him and would've still been around in the 2nd round.

Then they took 2 WRs in the 2nd, that's actually good. Edwards looked terrible last year (I mean decent overall, but not the top 5 receiver we expected him to be) and Stallworth it too busy running people over, drunk. Both are more of a possession, hold on to the ball, type of receivers - neither is really a home-run threat or a game breaker.

Then we picked up depth @ defensive end with a guy out of Hawaii, but I hear he's a little undersized at this point and is working on putting on mass, could eventually become a good player if he puts in the work.

The rest was more depth @ linebacker and d-backs. Took a late flyer on an RB from Clemson - good/tough runner, but isn't fast. More of a Brandon Jacobs type - though god bless it if he's half the player that monster is.

I think the argument is that we had a top 5 pick... and could've taken a great player but instead chose to go for depth. From what I understand they really wanted Aaron Curry, and nigga went the pick b4. They were hoping Seahawks would've taken Sanchez instead, then they would've stayed @ 5, taken Curry, and the draft would've gone much differently.

i dunno about ALL that... as long as Quinn is protected, he should be fine.
