Recording with Tracktor Scratch

I'm about to purchase Traktor Scratch with the Audio 8 external soundcard. This is probably a "noob" question but I'm wondering
a)Is it possible to monitor any of the other cued decks while a song is playing in another through Audio 8? and
b) Can you record your mix to your computer's harddrive while at the same time monitoring the other decks?
I've only been playing around with the demo so it doesn't let me record anything so I dunno how that option works. I don't have any cd djs or midi controllers or anything else complicated...i'm just gonna be using the internal mixer on the software for now anyway.
Thanks for anyone's help, it's just itching at me!! |

Where are you purchasing this from? Don't go to moog audio or any other retails in toronto. Ebay 4thewin. |

Not familiar with the audio 8... i do run stanton's scratch amp and it works just fine with traktor fs recording to the same drive as I mix.
But i don't recommend the fs setup... |

Thanks for the video post, but that's only good if you're using an external mixer...which I will be doing in the future.
I guess what I'm wondering is, can you use the internal mixer to still record what's going on. I'm assuming you can monitor the other decks through the headphone jack on the audio 8 thing...someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Right now i'm just using the split mode thing, so I can monitor out of one side of the headphone.
Additonaly...has anyone had any keylock problems??? I'm running Vista on a 2.16 dual core laptop with 3 gb of ram. I downloaded ASIO4ALL, which is a seperate program, which allows me to change the latency settings as I can't do it directly with Realtek on the audio settings withen Traktor(stupid vista!!). Before there were alot of pops and distortion at 10n ms, until I lowered the latency down to 35 ms where there's some small pops here and there, but nothing at all major. The sound quality is slightly decreased, so you basically can't notice it, but it's still irritating to say the least, BUT the difference is basically neglible. Does anyone have this problem? |

what do you mean by record while monitoring? You just mean you want to play another deck in your headphones while recording the master out? If so, yeah, you can do that.
Everyone has had keylock problems....I wouldn't use keylock at this time, it sucks. |

If you're running in "internal" mixer mode, you will be using 4 of the Audio 8's outputs (2 stereo pair). One of those will be for your master out (going to speakers), the second will be for your cue channel. You plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the audio 8, and set the audio 8's headphone channel to whatever you selected as "cue" in the software.
Since you are using the internal mixer, Traktors built in recorder can just record internally from the master out to your drive.
Cue'ing decks up is accomplished by clicking on the cue icon on each deck, and is independent of the recording feature. |
