Turntable Power Down Effect in Ableton???

Any ideas how to recreate the power down effect in Ableton?

I can always record my sample than play it back using serato and physically power down the turntable, but I rather not loose a generation if possible.

Thank you Ableton wizards!

export the wav and automate the pitch? its my best guess.. you can also automate the tempo but wont bring in the same effect...

The best way i know is to just record it.

provided you have an audio sample, you can simply set the warp mode to repitch, then slowly raise the tempo on it. You can use clip automation to do this. But theres no way to do it on a VST channel.

EDIT: when I say raise the tempo, I mean on the clip itself, not the master tempo. So the overall effect is similar to lowering the master tempo.

Assumed your audio clip is already at the same tempo as the master tempo is, put your clip into a simpler, and automate the region you want the stop effect on with pitch bend. Don't forget that after a pitchdown effect, the clip will be out of sync.

Or you can also slice your clip to a drum rack with the slice algorithm (not the time-based one) and do the same as above with the pitch bend control.

I do this all the time.

There's also a plug-in that does it well in realtime. Sugar Byte's Effectrix. Google it.

There's even a way they found on the Ableton forum to scratch with audio files imported onto a simpler. Good to know that Simpler's better than Sampler in that figure.

Hopefully the serato component will be worked out soon and that'll make that unneccesary.... Of course, once the MAX addon is released, theres solutions within that too...

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try some of these ideas!

bah, it's like pushing the boundaries of your hardware and software, or not?. A little sweat is always welcome.
