Review: TOTA Does NYC

So, this past weekend, Jan 22-26, Vince, Bryan, Stefan, Sarah and I planned a trip to New York City. All in all,
WHAT AN AMAZING WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!

First night there, we decided to stay in, but the fire alarm went off in the building and it ended up being a full and entertaining night...we had to walk down from the 24th floor..then walk back up all those stairs because the elevators were turned off.

Friday we spent the day touring the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, etc. Got back early to prepare for the coming night.

Markus Schulz @ Pacha:

We got there a bit after he started, so we missed Blake Jarrell :(. Walking in, they confiscated our gum (grr) , and we walked on through into a smaller downstairs room. Once we made our way into Pacha's main room, I was immediately impressed. Much smaller than Guv main room, but they had an awesome lowering lighting feature. The floors were nice (hard wood, I guess the reasoning behind the gum confiscation) and the vibe was awesome! Once we found ourselves a spot to dance (it was insanely packed in there), we could finally listen to Markus...and WOW!!!!
MOST AMAZING SET I'VE EVER HEARD SPUN LIVE!!! Markus ripped up the room and was loving every minute he was up there. This party was amazing in every way! It only got better with time, and as people started clearing out. We decided to leave about an hour before he finished his 6 hour set to head home (the only regret I have of that night, but it was time to go). Soooo we get outside, and how do we get home? A limo! :D

Stoneface & Terminal @ Love:

Getting to this club and seeing there was no sign (the entrance was under a sign for a Barbershop, skeeeetch), we were a little weirded out. Walked in, and experienced probably the most disorganized coat check I've ever seen in my life...how exactly does a coat check get too full, to the point where you have to wait to check your coat??:conf: Oh, and LOL @ my brother, who's never been to an EDM club before and came (props to him :))...his first comment to me was "do you know there's kids playing around with glowsticks in there??!!" Anyways, none of that matters, because I was seeing STONEFACE AND ING TERMINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they did not disappoint.

An amazing set, played JUST the way I wanted to hear it.....just the right amount of uplifting trance with hard trance. So happy to hear Pictures, Endorphine, and of course
BLUEPRINT BLUEPRINT BLUEPRINT! :D:D:D
After they finished their set, a local dj came on and lord knows who he was, but he played soooo well...a much different style than S & T (not uplifting at all) but wow, so good. This was when we all saw the best lightshows we've ever seen EVER...these glowstickers were hardcore.

Overall, funnest party I've ever been to!
Once we left the club, we took a subway home, which wins for ridiculously sketchy experience...some girl screaming about how the train smelt like rabbit pellets and that old man near the window ("Ohhhhhhh Shiiiiiiiiit, NYPD!!!)
Home sweet home, on to afterparty #2 :)

Spent the last night in (we were supposed to go home but we decided to stay an extra day). Nice and relaxing!

After this weekend, all I have to say to recap is:
1) I love my friends, you guys rock! <3
2) I didn't think it was possible to love trance anymore, but I don't think I've ever loved trance anymore than I do after this weekend <33
3) NYC subways after 4 am are so sketchy
4) WHEN ARE STONEFACE AND TERMINAL COMING TO TORONTO???!!!
Intangible

Thanks Veronica for making this all happen and thanks to everyone for one AMAZING trip.

It's trips like this that bring us closer together and allow us to experience EDM scenes in other places than Toronto.

FULL out review to come tomorrow night as I'm studying for my midterm tonight...

Lets just say I'm a sketch magnet on the streets of NYC/Jersey city!!!!
