c0r Tech kids/TV geeks: Recommend me some ~32" LCD TV's?

Subject pretty much says it all. I'm pretty clueless right now, but very close to pulling the trigger on one soon and want to at least try and do my homework before hand.

So, any personal experiences/recommendations for brands/models?

Also, 1080p not absolutely necessary.

2 - i don't know about LCD TVs

( Ninja Edit ) Disregard option 1

No reason to NOT buy a 1080p screen at the prices they are, and you want to be ready for the future. Does it have to be a 32"?

Nah, can be slightly larger or smaller - ~32" just kind of refers to the general size and price range I want to stay in (preferably under $600 if that's even reasonable - as I said, I'm really, really ignorant when it comes to this stuff).

I would get a 1080p for sure...I get HD in satellite and there is a noticeable difference between 1080i and 1080p (blu-ray). I'll see what I can dig up. Also, Circuit City is practically giving away screens at this time.

Ooh, that's a good idea. Forgot about that whole debacle.

And anyway, yeah - the reason I'm so willing to pull the trigger is just having got a PS3, and wanting to use the Blu Ray player, so yeah - 1080p is obviously preferable. :p

heh, just got the PS3 myself. First movie was Dark Knight and then the cheesey movie Wanted, but damn Angelina looks good in that!

No need to spend the extra cash on a 1080 if it is only a 32...unless you are going to sit 3 feet from the screen.

If you want quality though - Consumer Reports best rated for the 32's:

Samsung LN32A550 (rated at 78 - highest of any size was 82)
Panasonic TC-32LZ800
Sony Bravia KDL-32XBR6
Toshiba REGZA 32CV510U

This one pretty much fits you're budget with 1080p, and has a high review.

So I think I'm just going to go and bum around today and see what stuff I can find leftover at places following the holiday rush, get a few in mind, and just try to update this thread from my phone to see if anyone has even heard of what I find.

I feel like I'm on a mission today. I love that feeling. :happy2:

Rob, if you can spend a little more, I would. Kinetic has hit the nail on the head for the most part, but the only other thing I would say is that the Aquos panels have a lower quality color reproduction compared to Sony's Bravia newer KDL series.

If you can find a good deal on a KDL40V4100 I would HIGHLY recommend that. It has really good panel. They seem to run about $1000 via google shopping.

Yes, that's a nice one and worth every penny!
