Hi! I'm about to buy new headphones but I get so frickin' anxious all the time because I don't want to buy some ty stuff, but now I'm focused on AKG K-601.

I'm going to produce music with these and I'm choosing headphones because I can't terrorize my neighbors anymore, already got warned and they hear EVERYTHING in this building, haha. So, proper headphones seems to be the answer. Anyway. I almost decided to buy the K-601 but then a friend of mine wrote this and I was hoping some of you can give me some tips and details about these phones, and maybe explain what a proper headphone should have regarding what my friend below says.

XXXXX says:
ok these dont say enough in the specs

XXXXX says:
you need at least 20hz to 20khz...but that spec has to be followed by something that looks like this " (+3db)"

XXXXX says:
and on this spec it doesnt show that

XXXXX says:
so if it doesnt it probably doesnt meet the proper spec

XXXXX says:
this is really important for the spec

XXXXX says:
most good headphones have it

XXXXX says:
it means it will meet those frequencies range but never deviate more than 3db

XXXXX says:
so its virtually flat across the whole range

XXXXX says:
if its not then that means it's likely not flat

XXXXX says:
and not flat means you are not hearing stuff right

XXXXX says:
not flat may sound cooler...but you know in our industry cooler is not what we are after

mate there's pretty much a headphone thread a week on this forum.

try typing it into the search area...

the answer you're going to get on these forums for producing music in headphones is a pair of the semi-open AKG K240s...
i know cause i started a thread asking this same question about a month ago, and have since bought the 240s, and they are TOPS.

here's the thread i started :)

Hey, why not go for the top of th range model?
K701 has just been replaced with the k702, so you might get a good deal on the k701.
I have a pair, and I must say they are ultra revealing! Certainly not the cans IŽd want to use for pleasure listening.
