All you electronic fans in Edmonton who decided not to show up to the John Creamer show last night are THE reason why Edmonton's scene sucks ass and is almost dead. Either Edmontonians show NO support for this music or they're just too stupid and ignorant to know who the hell John Creamer is!
I drove up from Calgary last night to see an absolutely wicked show with a crowd of no more than 100 people. I walked into Lush and was absolutely ed to see no one there. I spent the first 3 hours of my night in ty pub clubs packed with drunk red necks listening to the worst retro and top 40 crap. When I finally arrived at Lush at around 11:30 I couldn't beleive the lack of people. It was absolutely disgusting.
I talked to John for about 15 minutes before he went on and he was totally cool about the whole thing. Even though he started his set with no more than 20 people on the dancefloor he played his set out like the place was packed. He played for two and a half hours some of the dopest I've heard in a while. He finally stopped at 3:00 in the morning with about 10 people left in the entire place all clapping and giving him props for his pure class.
Keith from Defstar was there and said he was gonna try to get him down to Calgary sometime, where he'll actually be appreciated and will pack the venue. It's totally true, had this been in Calgary the place would have gone off and showed the support he deserves.
You people in Edmonton deserve to have no one coming into town. I hope for your sake that the same doesn't happen for Lawler and Van Buuren cause that would really make it hard for promoters to keep bringing big acts into town only to lose money on the whole thing.
All I can say is that last night was a sad representation of Alberta's scene and I was totally embarassed by it. |

And hey studio im sure this experience will make u charish calgarys scene a whole lot more, just think of what it could be if we didnt show support like we calgarians do! |

| Lush just doesn't advertise itself enough. I didn't see any flyers for it at all, but I havne't been to the stores for awhile. I don't know, Edmonton is a trance city (look at Tiesto, Matt Darey) but i do wish Creamer was packed. |

| The fact that Defstar put on that show is a reason why the turnout was so poor. In case you don't know, Edmonton has a huge vendetta against Keith Rebuliak (the person behind DefStar) and a large number of people won't attend his events. So it isn't just lack of support, but rather the promoter behind this particular show that is to blame for poor turnout. Although I do have to say that Edmonton isn't exactly the most supportive city when it comes to the big name DJs. But again, maybe we don't NEED big-name expensive DJs when our local talent is this good. |
