I say dual core because most applications are not completely optimized for multicore chips. For the same price you can get a faster dual core. Really it depends on what apps you will be running the most. |

Final thoughts are throw in some nice cooling, so you can over clock the out of it, and make sure you have a monitor that can do at least 1920x1200, or you will end up wasting damn good hardware running resolutions that would run fine on a slower/cheaper machine.
If you can afford it running two 4850s in crossfire will run games at 2560x1600, but I don't even know how much a monitor that size will cost... at least $1000. |

I have 24 inch Dell so I will be seeing the full potential of the setup
What kind of cooling solution do you have in mind? |

| I don't know, but definitely make sure to get enough fans for the case, and don't use the stock heatsink that comes with CPU. |

One more tip..If your heatsink doesn't have thermal compound on it already, get some arctic silver 5. And make sure you only apply a PAPER THIN layer to the CPU before putting the heatsink on. Most new builders make a mistake by smearing it on. I use a razor blade to get a perfectly thin layer and it works great. If you need some AS5, here ya go:

Final tip..Make sure you have both intake and exhaust fans on your case. Most cases just have a fan on the rear. If you want to overclock, you need at least one good 120mm on the front to pull the air through faster and keep things cool. |
