should i get farcry 2 or fable this week or just wait.. im leaning towarsd waiting but both these games have ace reviews so far

i didnt like farcry 1 but read its nothing like it. .thing is farcry is too long of a game to play alongside fallout 3

fable 2 has a 10 hr main quest blah...... fable 1 was good but not amazing

ughhhhhhhhh too many games

tnhen u have stuff like prince of persia, mirrors edge, saints row 2 out there.........

I'm waiting a few weeks for reviews to pile up. Not bull gamespot/ign/GT press reviews that rate anything with decent graphics and bland gameplay 9/10, but reviews by real gamers and forum-goers.

I must say, despite the technical difficulties im having with regular freezing (fixed with control-alt-delete) and the fact the missions are quite repetitive, far cry 2 is one of the most impressive shooters that ive ever played. The gunplay is absolutely fantastic, the weapons feel nice and solid and they all sound great. The dynamic foilage is 10x better than what they achieved in crysis; its amazing how immersive an environment can be when you don't simply walk through graphical artifacts that are supposed to be bushes or ferns. You can slowly creep through a bush and push its leaves down for a clear shot, rather than simply moving forward until the bush is 'behind' you.

The AI tends to suck in places, but when they know where you are and they're shooting at you its pretty good.

Graphics are simply stunning, and run great too (other than performance issues like freezing, but not everyone would get that), sound is overall very good except for voices from enemies are far too loud when they’re far away, spooking you into thinking there's someone right behind you.

Missions are really repetitive, however asides from the laborious roadblock encounters, ive never experienced the same battle twice. There are so many things in this game that ive never ever seen happen before in a shooter, no scripting necessary. When I set fire to grassland because the rocket launcher's "exhaust" lit a bush behind me, all I could say was "wow". The attention to detail in so many areas really adds to the immersion.

There's still a bunch of console-related BS that was left in for the PC game, but that's 2009 for you. I also would have liked to see some fighting between factions that didn't include me, as it stands pretty much everyone in the map is an enemy, which is a shame I think. Travelling around also becomes quite a hassle after a while, due to the roadblocks with respawning enemies. Would have been nice to see some change in the game world when you take people out; instead they're back there 10 mins later like you never killed them.

Im really not into shooters these days but despite the stability issues (still not fixed by ubisoft btw), the repetition and the AI weaknesses, this is really an amazing game if you like insane gun battles within an extremely dynamic and interactive environment.

I agree with some of pkc said. The graphics and whatnot are great. Technically impressive.

It's boring as though.

i get that i really do, i still only play for an hour at a time before its time to do something else. but i still reckon that the gunplay is awesome, and that's the most important part to get right in an FPS.
