So for a while now, I've been wanting to redo my original dance 2 goa trance mix (which ironically was allmost all psy), because although I didn't know about harmonic mixing, or any beatmatching at all back when I made it, it was infact surely one of my funnest and best mixes. I may still redo it(with my knowledge of harmonic mixing, and maybe 30% different tracsk), and thats probably on top of the list next, but for now I've just finished my sequel too it, which is the same idea, but with some great improvements, and ofcourse my superior knowledge of mixing and music in general back then.
I'm suprised as to how this came about, it came from about 3 tracks, to a full 8-14 track set in about 30 hours, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although really its hard to judge while actually mixing it, and I haven't had a chance to listen to it again since then. However there are an absolute ton of tracks I love in there, and I think the general idea/flow probably went rather well, so I hope you guys enjoy :)
My focus has been on the overall mood of the songs, and their energy level rather then strictly being very similar in every way, one after another, although the most of the transitions are key matched. The focus has basically been on, impressive first two tracks, filler (although not necassarily boring ofc) epic, filler, etc... you get the idea. Basically based around what song would go great after the previous few songs, and around exactly the mood I wanted while keeping up with the general overall sound. I'm a bit worried that I sort of used two cool of tracks(and the third last one was pretty chill too), but I'll have to listen again to see how it actually turned out. Anyway, as mentioned before, hope you guys enjoy :) At the very least I think this will be in my top 2 mixes.
Tracklist:
1. S.U.N. Project-These guys
2. S.U.N. project-going back in time
3. Electric universe-gajinrocker
4. S.U.N. project-what comes next
5. Electric universe-the prayer
6. Xerox and Illumination-Helium
7. Bamboo Forest-cliche'h
8. Electric universe-Nova 3
9. Cosma-mixed up
10. Astrix-Wider(rmx)
11. Electric universe-Return to the source
I've split it into 3 files so it's easier to upload. They are in no way really seperated musically wise, and its highly recomend you merge them with adobe audition or something, or add them on a playlist so theres no pause in between. I'll re upp as one file tomorrow.
It's in 256k mp3 btw

Uploading, linkage coming in an hour.
[edit] http://www.filefactory.com/file/268839/n/dance2psytrance_mp3 there you go.
[second edit] Filefactory is way easier to upload too, but filefront is easier to download from, so I've upped it to filefront (after like 5 failed attempts) somehow, and replaced linkage, they're both the same so use either :) but anyway. |

Hope you don't take this review the wrong way.. Compared to some of your past sets I've listened to, this set was sub-par IMO.
First track isn't Showtek - FTS... It starts with SUN Project - These Guys.. haha... Smooth transition into Going back in Time...
Rough switch over to EU - Gaijinrocker.... Wondering when you are gonna start mixing... getting kinda close to the end..... ????? Whoa... what the... Really didn't like that mix much.. I know what you were trying to do, but it really killed the flow and energy that Gaijin built up...
Smooth into The Prayer... and a favorite track of mine!
Something sounded off into the XI track.. not sure what.. again, more loss in the energy during transitions. :(
What's with all the fade outs in these transitions???? Totally ruining the flow of the set.. might as well just cue all these tracks up in itunes and listen individually.
I've never heard Nova 3 before... but it's another fantastic EU track.. :)
Rough transition into Cosma.. saved it at in the end I guess.
I didn't get a chance to write anything for the last couple tracks.
Overall, nice track selection, but for me the flow of the set was a total roller coaster with the dodgy mixing/transition ideas. :(
Cheers. |
