kinda like underage drinking in the US...there are still penalties, but most of the time, they'll let you go anyhow..
the thing is that they want to have the 'option' of f'n you over for it. they may not do it everytime. |

Personally I don't think it should be downgraded. Yet. THere really is not enough knowledge about the long-term effects, and indeed psychiatric wards are starting to get an increased trickle of fortysomethings coming in who started doing it when it first appeared on the UK scene... let's see exactly what happens to them in old age before we start saying E is OK.
Pot on the other hand is totally safe, and everyone knows it. Dude. *puff* |

| I think the main reason is the amount of money it will take away from the brewing industry, and of course, the govt don't want to be blamed in 30 years time if everyone starts getting weird side effects. |

Actually it has been suggestedin some scientific circles that any brain damage (rather alteration, they're not convinced the changes made due to the drugs have any effect on normal brain activity at all) is due to the combination of ecstacy and canibis rather than just canabis.
Also new research suggests that the long term effects of ecstacy (some research suggest that the effects heal themselves and others say that there aren't any long term effects at all) can be severely reduced if enough vitamins are taken (can't remmeber which vitamins it was, it's not just C though).
Ecstacy and it's effects is a really hazey area which is why it's still Class A, although I personally think there is enough evidence to warrent a downgrading.
.......hmm personally i thought that Canabis was downgraded to Class C months ago and that Ket is actually not on the banned substances list but rather a controlled substance, mainly because it's available as vital in the treatment of horses. |

Anyone heard this on the news?
They said it might soon be downgraded to a class B drug.
What does that mean exactly? How legal will it be? Will it become like cannabis, ie it's technically still illegal but you won't get done unless you're dealing sort of thing?
:conf: |
i got all excited. it also means you wont get banged up for zillions of years for carrying 10 or so.
then they said the change wud be proposterous or sum BBc like word, and i cried :( |
