DF and JK were the games that really got me into gaming. They were the first where I played multiplayer extensively, and did so well into the 2000s. I was a part of the modding community back in the day. What they fail to mention here is that alot of the JK fans were really dissapointed at Jedi Outcast (myself included). It had a great engine (Q3) and alot of potential, but it seems like the gameplay was really really slowed down (especially multiplayer gameplay), and the singleplayer was ruined by some of the cheesiest dialogue and storyline in gaming history. JA was often seen as the "fixing" of JO, and while the SP storyline was still pretty lame, the fast pace of the multiplayer was more appealing to the JK fans. JK is still my favorite in the series, but JA was also pretty good (despite the cringeworthy moments, the gameplay made up for it). It should also be mentioned that before JO was even announced to the public, the console game Obi Wan was to be considered the spiritual successor to Jedi Knight.
Now I really wish they'd make a proper addition to the series using the UT3 engine or something similar. |

+1
I hope The Force unleashed will fill that slot nicely if nothing else. Though i wouldn't mind if they took these games further into the EU. I wouldn't mind a game where my jedi comrades and I were put against a Vong invasion force  That would be totally awesome.
Speaking of awesome, KOTOR in next ep, yay. |

| Yeah, but force unleashed just doesn't look the same. Maybe it's just me. :conf: |

Well no it doesn't really, but im still hoping that it will be an equally enjoying gaming experience.
Like i said before, they should continue the Jedi Knight games, but set it in the New Jedi Order timelime. frankly im quite bored of killing stormtroopers, bring on the Vong. |

i remember buying JKII even tho my computer couldnt run it...but my friends dads computer could, and just barely!
i was sick for these games back in the day. i am glad they mentioned the serious mod scene for DF, as i collected all of them - most were trash but there were a few that made even the regular game look lazy.
i liked the last two as i was far more into the single player series, but i am glad that someone confirmed that Academy had no linearity whatsoever. i remember liking it, but being ing confused most of the time...
playing as the R2 unit was pretty sweet too| |

I always saw that as a good thing. Is it really worse than JO's plot?
"Hey Luke, you know how I quit using the force and gave you my lightsaber for keeping because I nearly fell to the dark side after going on a crazy revenge spree?"
"Yeah?"
"Well I sort of need it back."
"Is this about that purple jedi dinosaur from space who killed your off-again-then-again girlfriend Jan Ors? I'm worried that if I give you your lightsaber back, you'll just turn to the dark side again. What do you plan to do with it?"
"Go on a crazy revenge spree."
"Alright then, I see no reason to keep it away from you." |
