Yeah lack of eye contact/interaction with the punters for ol Mr Van Dyk has been sorely lacking the last few times hes played.Hopefully he'll get the hint that u cant just play wicked tunes and have the crowd goin spastic.U need to be a performer/entertainer also.Maybe hes gotten too big for his boots!Or hes pissed off that he got bumped outta the no 1 dj possie!

he's been like that for 10+ years. Doesn't seem to have done much harm to his career has it?

A dj's job is to play wicked tunes, not do an 8 hour jesus pose.

He has completely failed in the charisma area last 2 gigs.

he was heaps better at the metro
hahah playing the air guitar when he dropped the oasis tune :stongue:

his set at kryal makes me not want to go to this, why should i keep supporting him when he acts like a diva...

+1, was good at metro! even SMILED a few times (if you can believe it!! :p )
but yeah, shocking at kryal- throws a hissy fit cause he was meant to be on the side of the main stage, and plays (was it) half his alotted set time??

ah well, the fact he comes out here so much saves him :)
he must enjoy himself a BIT.. :p

Ironic, I didn't mind his set at Metro last year, but I thought it was very up and down, jumping to electro-house at one stage and then finishing with Anthem, which was pretty inexcusable.

At Kryal, he blew my mind...completely. The six people in our group were all completely shattered when his set just stopped mid-way.

The reason I think Van Dyk has been so successful: he has this knack for playing incredibly driving, danceable trance, yet somehow without straying too far into tech-trance or hard trance. Simply driving and uplifting.

Voodoo & Serano - Blood Is Pumpin' is a perfect example. He used to play this a bit a while ago. It's a little techy, a little hard, but mostly uplifting and banging. He seems to have an unlimited number of tracks like this hidden in his bag.

I'm excited to see him come out, but as it's at Stereosonic I'll be expecting a similarly unmoving set to the Metro gig, not the mind-blowing awesomeness at Kryal that made me so wet.

yes but there is a thing called crowd interaction which i believe is fairly important, if your watching a guy who looks bored out of his brain where is the fun in that?
