Why do they even bother buying them? They are so ing clueless on how to use them, let alone try to troubleshoot them over the phone with a tech support rep! I just got off the phone with an old bitch. Below is a short transcript of the call.

Me: Please type C, as in charlie, M, as in mary, and D, as in david.
her: ok
me: so what came up?
her: I typed "seasonmd" liek you asked me to.
me: please change that to "c as in charlie, m as in mary, d as in david". ok now what came up?
her: I typed "C as in charliemd" as you asked.

Thanks ing hell she disconnected somehow lol.

:haha: Yeah I use to be a tech support rep as well, patience is a ing necessity with these people. I can see how she got to season (c as in), but that's about it. Then if they it up, it's all your fault not theirs.

Some of them can't even hear a word you say on the phone and ask you to speak up, so half the ing city can hear you. It's like "whats the ing point in having a phone mate, get yourself a text-enabled phone"

a real conversation overheard at work today...

J: so if i have to restart the program, do i also have to restart the computer?
K: no, just close explorer, and then start it again
J: oh, how?
K: like this (click, click)
J: oh! thanks!

and this was between 2 girls younger than me.

Dude that isn't even the half of it. I told her to unplug the power from her MODEM and she unplugged the power to her COMPUTER!!!!!!! then she said her computer went off. Then after I told her to plug her computer back in and to turn it on, she SOMEHOW got into the CMOS settings! Like WTF lady!

A lost cause there, and you end up spending half an hour of your precious time trying to get her back where she started. Then the screaming starts when they get all flustered and confused, and then they start ranting about what a ty company you are, but "it's nothing personal mate".

I used to work for a telecom's company as well and here's a small snippet of what happened when some old bint decided to call:

Old Man : Yes I'd like to place a customer-controlled call bar on my home phone
Me: Ok, do you have a pen and I'll give you the instructions?
Old Man : Yep, ready
Me: Ok, when you hang up the phone, you need to enter this code into your phone to activate
Old Man: *hangs up phone*
Me : WTF?!

I used to have to put up with this sort of . We've got a remote desktop facility built into our website now though so I just get them to log into that and I get to take over.

ing useless cunts. It's not that they aren't capable of learning - They're just to stubborn to do so. Most of these people were literally dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age whilst holding onto their filo faxes.

My grandfather is actually pretty good with computers. He was an early adopter and first got AOL back in the early to mid 90s, about the same time my parents did.

I've seen some pretty clueless old people use them, though.

This would be ing ace to have, as I work for a computer manufacturer. Too bad this won't be implemented. Although it would save us TONS of headaches with these older people.

lol but your grandfather is a rarity. I worked for a cable company 5 years ago, and we serviced 2 of the 3 assisted living communities in the area. I am familiar with helping the old farts, but this bitch just takes the cake.

My boss at work is actually quite good at computers, and she's in her sixties. Her boss, on the other hand, can't even use the copy machine properly. I mean, I wrote a manual to everyone at school, and I even taught her the proper way of doing it but, as Mikey put it, she's too stubborn to learn, even if the paper gets jammed every couple of minutes

yes welcome to my family..they own computers with the highest specs..but no about using them.

Haha, this is what my life is all about. It's taken me a year to get used to old people.
