Just got mine! Lucked out and found one in-store with no pre-order, after 3 failed tries this morning elsewhere.

Are you getting one? Already using yours? Post your reviews here!

Can't wait to get home and play mine. :D

Will someone PLEASE explain to me how this game got ANY hype? Now, skizzell, this is NOT at all directed to you, but I'm just wondering how this game got to be received so well in the video game community. I mean c'mon, its an exercise video game for Christ's sake, this is NOT something to get excited about. If you go outside and run around the block a few times, I'm sure you will receive a very similar effect/result.

But seriously, someone give me the 2-1 on how this game got to be so popular. Exercising is a daily routine I endure for the health and fitness of my body, not a way of having a blast with my friends. Is it the gameplay? Does the Wiimote pull off some crazy when playing? :conf:

Connerman2000, arent you a little close minded?

Have you used it? Great products happen to sell well without traditional hype from media. The games industry is a different beast when it comes to product success, hype or the lack of hype doesnt dictate success. Do you buy games solely off hype? Personally there are plenty of games I buy without much hype, and games I avoid with a lot of hype.

Based on the little I've played, it seemed very interesting. I've got bad posture and a lot of this game is based on helping to correct posture... some of the minigames (tilting your body to maneuver marbles into the goal kind of like Kororinpa or Monkey Ball, hitting soccer balls with your head) were fun too. Not something you can devote 30-40 hours to like a good RPG but still fun nevertheless.

just bought it cuz my gf wanted it... the minigames are way more fun than i thought and the exercises are way more intense than i thought. the way they keep track of everything is really awesome too.

i wouldnt recommend this as the do or die way of working out, obviously. but for a little bit of exercise and some enjoyment while doing it, its fun.

mind you, ive only had the thing for 2 hours, so we'll see...

No, this is why I asked why this game got hype in the first place. Although I may seem close-minded in my absolute trashing of the idea of an exercising video game, I am merely asking the primary question: why is this game fun?

I'm not sure why you would ask me about buying games off hype. My original Q was why this got hype in the first place. Your question infers (from my perspective, I apologize if I'm misreading you) that I only buy games that receive hype, which is backwards when you consider the viewpoint I am coming from. I just want to know what this game does that made it such a big deal in Japan, and now in the US.

+1

Hype is a marketing gimmick created by millions of dollars in advertising. Hype does not in anyway equal quality.

Seriously!

This "game" far surpassed my expectations. If you're lazy and want to have fun getting off the couch, do this. Like Flo said, it's not for bodybuilders or anything, but if you're the "I can't work out to save my life" type then this game may actually help!
