wowowowowow. I wasn't planning on going tonight - a rare occurrence for sure because I do like JXL but the last times it hasn't been too great - and I was feelin a bit lazy - but a couple of friends I was with wanted to go to Vision. Anyways, boy am I glad I went. Seriously if this show happened and I didn't go and I somehow found out about it later on, I would have been fukin PISSED. This was a F'in SHOW. I got there at 12ish and it was already a mad house. Darkwave Disco I think was playing before and he was just in full control of every person in that club. Played some shockers and it only drove the crowd wilder.
I wasn't expecting more than the last time I saw JXL. But I was totally blown away. This show was far and above better than any other time I've seen him - it was on a different level. He's always had the energy in his stage performance and that's always been great - but I just never got totally into what he played - even the Blue Pill Red Pill song.. it's nice, but it just was never one of my favs - not even close. Speaking of which, I don't think he played that tonight - which was good. He can't keep playing that at every show, imo.
So, early on, I heard the beginnings of "Go" starting, and that was great because I love that song, and furthermore this was a version I hadn't heard before (I know that's not saying much given that the song is one of the most remixed songs ever). So that was going on and was sweet. What happened next sent me up a red carpet straight to cloud 9 - and I mean one of the really really nice red carpets - finished in velour with gold tassels running down the sides, the whole nine yards. Yeah. The chorus of Enjoy the Silence was mixed on top of Go - and instantly this became one of the top 5 clubbing experiences for me, ever (not a simple feat, seriously). It fuking SLAMMED in that room and just blew us all away. And, I know I'm just a tad biased - but this is not entirely the bias talking. Even if it didn't have the DM elements in it - it still would have slammed - although it would have not been a top 5 for me - but still, I would have been impressed. The DM lyrics in there - god - it was PERFECTION. It's the first time I heard both songs mixed together - they worked together SO WELL it was unbelievable. Really really nice. He followed it with a modified version of his "Talk" remix (Coldplay) I think one or two songs after that - and that slammed too. And then he just kept going and going, until the end. And oddly enough that's what he told me too after the show, he said he really enjoyed it all the way through to the end. It's one of the best nights I've had at Vision. Thank you to everyone involved for making it happen.
edit: had to add some more detail :clown: |
