um, i play on a sofa on a 32" HDTV with surround sound; i even have a customised (read: we cut holes in it) coffee table to mount my steering wheel on ;) |
you are very rare. And 40 Inch+ HDTVs with a PS3 + Seating Arrangement of Choice > Your Setup
And you still have to wait a while to play it...while console gamers get to use and abuse GTA IV, while you wait watching videos on youtube. LOL. |

It's crazy to think that just about every genre of gaming was pioneered on the PC.
Well, platformers...maybe not. Super Mario 64 was the first that really wowed people with the whole 3-D aspect.
Oh and fighting, not too many PC fighters that I can think of that have really made a huge impact on the industry as a whole.
But that's just about it. The PC does, essentially, own consoles in every respect. |
The very small and unimportant area that PC does own consoles, which are RTS and MMO's, consoles will start catching up this generation and will overtake next generation, making consoles as the go to place for experiencing epic MMOs and RTS experiences. Consoles have already surpassed PC's in its biggest draw...FPS/Shooter games. And every other genre for a long time has belonged to consoles, from action adventure to RPG to casual games to platformers. |

My graphics card is more powerful and more expensive than your entire paper weight, so I am unsure as to how your setup is better, but whatever.

Well, I couldn't give a about GTA because I have absolutely no intention of buying it, given that I got bored pretty quickly with #3. see, those of us that have been playing games for more than 5 minutes expect a little bit more from our games.

What an absolute load of horse.
Console games are generally dumbed down (for mass appeal), have very limited customisation options (hell, the latest burnout doesn't even let you change controls ffs) name a single FPS game that is better on a console. If you really think that playing shooters is better with your thumbs then you are quite mistaken. Gee, I really like those auto-aim options that ship with just about every console shooter, why not get the game to play itself since you all need your training wheels? I would dominate any controller player with a simple flick of my mouse wrist at any shooter you care to mention.
Likewise, consoles will never ever be able to compete in the RTS market, again because controllers suck. And there's the fact that most console fanboys are too ing stupid to play strategy games and the market is much more focused on bringing out GTA nth degree and GT 500 million (which will sell incredibly well) rather than trying to push the envelope in anything asides from graphics.
All of the console RPG titles that I have played ports of are similarly dumbed-down with both content and depth. Compare jade empire or fable to neverwinter nights ffs.
The only advantage that consoles have for the hardcore gamer is that they are more popular (just as pop music is more popular than EDM) and they don’t suffer nearly as bad from piracy which means there are more developers and more games. But not more GOOD games, just more games in general. The PC gets just about every huge and hyped console "exclusive" and, when the ports are actually done properly, the PC version is almost always better (in terms of customisation, scaling, performance, graphics, options etc). Just look at assassin's creed or (by all accounts) mass effect. When it goes the other way round, the console port is almost always inferior, because they simply lack the power.
And don’t even get me started on the wholly retarded "unlocking" system that was pioneered by the console developers. Hey, let's not let the user choose whatever game style they want whenever they want it. Let's force them into the single-player campaign even if they don't want to play it that way. Woohoo!
The PC is also home to the most innovation we see in games today, because they have that extra power to push the envelope. They are at the cutting edge of game design. There's a reason why we pay so much for our hardware, and its just not because mouse control and a steering wheels s all over the thumbs (I for one prefer using my fingers but NOOOO the console market had to stop that soon after the megadrive went out of style). |

As I already expected before I hit submit, your reply a whole lot of brainwashed elitist garbage that is getting laughable by the day...as PC gaming continues it decline into a small revenue market tailoring to non gamers who play free games, and douchebags like you who spend thousands on short life cycle PCs. I mean how gaping is your butthole after spending $2000 on a PC and not being able to play Crysis on full? Not to mention, besides Crysis there is very few games that warrant an expensive PC that arent on consoles already. Also the top 20 best looking games are for the most part are on consoles, with Crysis being the ONLY good looking PC game. And you cant play GT5, MGS4, Super Mario Galaxy, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Uncharted, and about 100 other upcoming games on the PC. While console owners can play 95% of the worthwile games that come to PC.
Obviously you have been living in a cave (duh your PC gamer), the PS3 has keyboard and mouse support and many MMO publishers and developers including NCSoft and SOE and many others are currently chiseling away at their MMO's specifically for the PS3, on an big screen HDTV :D
Your last paragraph is sadly more elistist garbage that cant be farther from the truth. And the most innovative games have always originated on consoles or have ended up on consoles.
That said im a PC gamer too, and will probably invest in one when DX10 and Vista matures some more and there are more PC games worth getting a PC out (Crysis being the ONLY one atm). In the meantime being a realist, I like shoving my foot up elitist(douchebag) PC gamer ass. |
