heading to Cancun, need some resort suggestions

I got awesome suggestions from some of you before I went to Cuba and we had a blast—now I need some Cancun suggestions!
where have you guys stayed before?
I'm heading down there for a week with a couple buddies of mine, and here is what we're looking for:
- resort preferably at center of Cancun, amid all the action!
- round-o-clock booze and food is vital! (most the resorts i've checked stop serving at 1-2am)
- it's gotta be alive and kickin', I want to stay away from the prentetious crowds. so...ideally, a resort that attracts young adults is where we want to be at.
- nothing over $1300
- and so long as basic necessities are met, I could care less about the hotel "star" rating.
- in short: a resort that caters to a young crowd(not friggin highschool students, but young adults...) pretty much a place where people go to have fun, non of this, i-wanna-relax-in-the-sun bs haha.

I went in December for the first time. It was a solo trip and I stayed at the Riu Cancun. It was really nice, very clean grounds and lobby is big. The best part is that its next to Bulldog, Coco Bongos and Daddy O's. You can easily walk there, but the resort provides bus service anyway at 11 when you go with the Animation crew. The animation crew were really jokes and were fun to go out with. They know all the best nights.
I didn't check out the The City but apparently they play some underground EDM and its supposed to be huge. I missed going there but check out the clubs listed above.
The negative part bout the Riu Cancun, is that it gets covered in shade after like 3 PM. The pool area and beach area get completely covered and the pool felt chilly. Only one was heated. I'm pretty sure now it's more hotter so it would be easier to deal with. I would recommend the Riu Cancun cuz the location and price is definately worth it AND you get access to Riu Caribe as well. I haven't visted the Riu Caribe but I wouldn't recommend staying there since it is far from the action, although i heard the beach area is wider. It is still a short bus ride away.

| ...I should add that the Riu is considered to be more than just providing your basic nessessities for a resort, so there maybe cheaper resorts in that same area. And also that I went to Cuba in February and I thought Cancun was much better overally although the beach in Varadero is 5x better. |

| I advice Riu cancun. One of the best hotels there and right in the club ditrict. Close to main hotspots: the city, nectar, daddy o etc |

riu cancun easily. I've gone twice and its excellent for the price.
- you will NOT get a better location then this resort, its amazing
- good food (opposed to the very awful oasis cancun)
- all rooms are ocean view :cool: (just don't get stuck on the 13th floor because of the obstruction)
- beautiful resort grounds
only negative are beds a bit hard, but i didn't really care about that, and slept fine. also, when we went once in june and once in august, there was a good mix of a young crowd, but of course some families too, but thats expected unless you go to adults only.
the only hotels that are better in AI, are ones that cost WAAAY more, like the royal cancun, la blanc, and a couple others i forget the names of. |

I actually just got back from Cancun a month or so ago. I went to Oasis Cancun and it was in sick. Honestly there's people up 24 hours a day partying.... no matter the time there are people partying everywhere. I remember the only days i made it for breakfast were the nights where i stayed up all night to go eat some breaky and pass the out.... good times.
Cancun is in sick and be sure to check out coco bongo before the weeks over, really quite the show :D. |
