Hi friends,
I'm an American hoping to move to Amsterdam at the end of next year to work at one of the advertising/media agencies (I work in online media).
I would love to get some input on what the work environment is like in Amsterdam. How are Americans received? Is it possible to get by at work without being fluent in Dutch (although I promise to try)?
Any advice helpful!

If there's one place on the world where nearly all of the world's nationalities can be found it would be Amsterdam. There is a good job opportunity for English speaking people, and alot of Dutch people speak English as their second language. Especially ICT is booming business here, but beware of popping bubbles and hypes :)
So if you're coming to stay and settle here, no worries, you feel comfortable and at home here very soon. Hatred towards Americans, well some people have their heads up their arses when it comes towards respect to eachother, but which country doesn't have those people :)
Just get to learn our country and how our social system works by browsing around on the web while you are in America and you're on your way to become a real dutchman/woman.
Good luck! |
