For the second time in a row, I went to beautiful Miami Beach for the Winter Music Conference.
(First thing I saw in Miami)
(Here are my friends Viggo, Boge and Frank from Norway)
(Here's Kaskade and I -- our entire crew attended the Grammy panel at WMC, and I met Kaskade to talk about his upcoming album)
(I met Paul Van Dyk to talk about Mixed In Key and ask for his feedback)
(Beatport parties are full of good people and talented DJs)
(These are my friends Jonas Tempel, the CEO of Beatport, and Sam, one of his business partners. Jonas was hanging out onstage at Mansion for Roger Sanchez's night. It was one of the best WMC events I've ever been to)
Next day, we sponsored the Vital Talent event at Gansevoort hotel. Vital Talent is a booking agency for Sasha and Digweed, Moby and many others.
(Views from the Gansevoort hotel)
(This is Hernan Cattaneo, a very talented DJ and a good friend)
Back on South Beach, I went to the Sagamore Hotel for BBC's Essential Mix show.
It was packed from start to finish:
(Dan Rosenthal, a super cool guy and Paul Oakenfold's manager at Perfecto Records)
(My personal hero, Pete Tong. This photo is special for me because Pete inspired me to play House music and create Mixed In Key software.)
(Too many Mojito's at Radio1 events)
(I met The Scumfrog at Crobar, and went to lunch with him the next day. If you're on South Beach, Pelican has the best food. His friend on the left is Static Revenger, another talented musician)
(Ultra on Saturday, Carl Cox headlining. The festival was very good, but I am starting to be too old to go there -- Most fans were under the age of 21)
Last day in Miami:
(Relaxing on Sunday morning)
(Nice cars outside my restaurant)
In summary, I loved WMC :) I had the best time ever. My favorite show was Kaskade at Crobar. My second-favorite was Roger Sanchez at Mansion. Kaskade deserves major respect for playing and producing great House tunes.
